This topic is probably going to be locked in the near future. I'm not going to lock it yet, I'm just predicting that soon one of the mods (maybe me) will be forced to lock it.

Nobody likes seeing topics locked - how about you all act like mature people and keep things civilised.

I occasionally smoke weed - certainly not everyday and usually only if I'm offered a joint or something at a party.

It's sad to hear that so many footbaggers smoke weed (I don't, alcohol seems to be "better" somehow). I hope that nobody will start smoking pot just because other footbaggers do...

I believe that the reason for that is that footbag is a new and different thing. People who are prepared to try something new and different - such as footbag - will probably be likely to try other things. Personally I think this is a good thing (the attitude of trying new things), and I think it's why I get on with so many footbaggers - because we are similar people, even if we often have very different views.

I think alcohol is seen as better because in most cultures it has been used for getting high for a much longer time - so it's much more accepted. In most countries smoking weed is a fairly new thing. I'm not sure much about the history but I think it wasn't really a popular thing until the 60s. I have never really been able to understand why dope is illegal and alcohol is not - both have negative effects - especially if abused and both make you feel good. Alcohol, I believe, is more damaging in general to society - dope addicts don't get in fights or beat up their family. I have heard a story that dope is illegal because of some conspiracy involving big companies in the US - but I can't remember the details.

zach you loser no one wants to hear about ur addiction of smoking. just b/c you do smoke doesn't make you cool and it doesn't make people like you. besides it's a waste of money and if you do train for the session that you don't take part in than you should be able to get a simple move like a mirage.

I have heard a story that dope is illegal because of some conspiracy involving big companies in the US - but I can't remember the details.

I'll throw out a theory of mine. We in the US like to feel important so we often make-up or spread rumors about the gov.. I feel this could be the reason why.

Theory below:

Currently the price of weed is rediculously expensive. There are 2 grades weed I speak of. Mexican or dirty weed (aka shwag) and KB (Kind Bud) or Green (aka Ganja). Dirty weed can be purchased currently in California for $50 - $100 an ounce depending on the source. Most comes from illegal transport from Mexico. Green on the other hand comes from one of 2 places, a.) Foreign nations like Amesterdam, and b.) closets and fields across America. It can be purchased for $300 - $500 an ounce depending on the source and grade of weed.

The reason prices are so high is the risk and demand of the crop. There are tons of people willing to grow and distribute to a few. The volume would be greater if it weren't illegal. Dirt weed is cheaper cause it is less potent and in less demand, yet yields higher volumes due to mass trafficing. Dirty weed gets cheaper in price the higher volume level you buy, while Green prices stay the same regardless of quantity.

The government (here it comes) confiscates millions of dollars a year in illegal gun seizures, vehicle seizures, money seizures, and account freezing. Not to mention illegal sales back to foreign countries (just kidding

). In most small towns a few cops smoke themselves and often barter with misdomeanor offenders for their weed. Basically, "Give me your weed and I'll let you go". So there is some corruption benefits as well.

Like 420 pointed out, if weed were to be legalized in this country, the first corporation with the means and ability to produce high quality weed at less than market value is the Tobacco Industry. Where do you think medicinal Marajuana comes from? There are already fields being grown and tested for just that purpose and it is controlled primarily by Phillip Morris and RJ Reynolds. There are also independent growers in the mid-west capitalizing as well.

So the tax thing is partially right. Except the government would want to put heavy restrictions on growth and tax anything sold at like 200% making it slightly higher per pack of filtered marajauna cigarettes as compared to regular cigarettes. So the government would still get its tax. However the street value would go down significantly, forcing growers to produce more to compete. The gov. would not be able to tax this weed.

Weed as a plant, grows on its own without the help of a human to maintain it. It would grow on our nations highways if it were legal, and every green thumb surely would have some growing right in their own backyard, further decreasing demand.

In a nut shell, the price would drop significantly. The gov. would lose money on the deal. While everyone else would benefit tremendously. So yes it is a gov. conspiracy to keep men down.

Alcohol on the otherhand, is not as easy to brew yourself. Home brewers have a difficult time filtering out sediment and cannot as easily regulate alcohol levels from batch to batch. So there is less demand for home brew. The government likes this cause they still get their cut.

The gov. claims the reason is that it is a gateway drug. Obviously they have never been to an AA meeting where people are smoking 2 packs of cigarettes and are on their way to the NA meeting after the AA meeting. So gateway drug my ass. States are taking action to legalize, but in a medicinal way, which I believe is a stepping stone for change. Or an excuse to get glaucoma.

So that's my theory anyways.

your really got a good idea... the reson i think footbag'n is popular with stoners is bc of circle kicking if u never smoked pot befor dont judge it on saying it makes u stupid an what not its not THAT BAD... when u get high an kick with some friends its fun its a really Regay sport an its just a chilling thing to do but as for freestyle... dont smoke when ur training it makes it very hard any one who says weed dont adfect your judgement is wrong..
when im high i notice i can not land what i can when im sober an can concentrate on the move but,

how as for Rob an Flexthis, yous are both idots i dont want any one to think im trying to be cool in any way im not like that at all im asking to just see bc i asked the same Question on flipsider an got the same repleys i dont understand how all of you ppl can be so nieve an yes it cost some money so dose smokeing cigs but that dont stop the ppl from doing it dose it? i have a friend who smokes 2 packs a day an that cost him about 11 dollars a day ... spend 50 to 100s in a week its just my habbit im not proud of it in anway at all its just something i do just as if some one smokes Cigs i bust out a j insted but i dont critzise the ppl who smoke cigs so i dont expect to be critzised for smokeing weed.

an for the record rob i dont play basketball so ur out of luck an yes its sad that Your trash talk on the internet... argueing on the internet is like running in the speical olympecs... even if you win, your still retarted.

umm dec. 20th last time i smoked of a bowl of some dro...dropped well over 500$ last year on pot alone..not including bolws blunts lighters and the muchies...ive quit cuase it was casuing family problems,i was getting a bad rep,and plus my lungs were shot haha..but yea ill still smoke every now and then if offered.good way to just chill out and have some fun,but you can do that too without it
