Good Dig. Camera

I'm thinking about buying a digital camera, but its one technology that i dont have a lot of exposure to. Just wondering about how much memory, mega pixels, etc. a half-way decent camera should have. I dont want a real fancy expensive camera, just want something that I can use for shred sessions, and be able to see whats going on.

Well,you probbably want 128mb memory card. And if you plan on printing out 8x10 photos you want atleast 3 megapixels or more.

64 mb of memory should do you if your camera's picture quality isn't real good. If you're looking into a camera with 3 megapixels or more, each picture will take up more memory with the higher resolution pics, so you would probably want a 128 memory stick. Also, if you get a cam that takes small video clips, you might want the 128 memory stick. Almost every digital camera you see at circuit city that is namebrand is pretty good and reliable. I myself have a Canon. Kodak makes affordable yet nice quality cams, take a look into those. If you're really interested in getting one, just go to Circuit City, check which one fits your taste, and then do some reviewing online. A decent digicam should cost somewhere inbetween 125-200 bucks. Goodluck.

I would go with maybe a Canon Zr camcorder. The whole zr series is a good series and they are really affordable. If you just plan to film footbaging. If you want t film other stuff to I would go with a Sony Trv. The trv series is really good espically the 32 and the 38. They both have 3.5 inch touch screen lcds, very nice. They have awseome quality to.

I'm gettin a video camera for my birthday

Panasonic,and it comes with all this stuff.Will i need tapes to use it or can you store some things on it's hard drive?

I've had LOTS of bad experiences with my Canon ZR. If I ever buy a new camera it will be a Sony.

I own a Sony TRV33. It's awesome and has a both a slowmotion playback and a zoom to review any dex's that may or may not have been clean.
The '33' also has a memory stick to hold digital images and small MPEG videos, and can act as a webcam, too.

Ha... the only thing is that it only takes 1 minute clips, but it's great for pictures too. But hey, I can't complain... it was free.

Buying a video camera is always a tricky ordeal. You kind of have to know what you want to get out of it.

If you are just looking for a super-east-to-use type of thing, and you don't plan on doing anything professional with it, don't break the bank. I would recommend buying a Mini-DV camcorder from a reliable company in the $800-$1200 range.

Despite Chan's problems, Canon, Sony and Panasonic all make decent cameras in this category. Most of the cameras in this price-range have a 1CCD chip, unlike the 3CCD chip of professional cameras, which produces a clearer picture. The picture quality is fine though if you are just going to play the videos at home.
If you plan on learning how to do some digital editing and such, make sure you have a computer that can handle it. If you are still running a 486 with 128 MB of ram, forget it.

unfortunately right now 800 - 1200 would break the bank, because of college expenses. Right now im looking on ebay for some deals, and comparing items at bestbuy, circuit city, online reviews, etc. I do plan on doing some editing, my computer should handle it fine, but i think ill need some more hard drive space, only have 70 gb hard drive.

70 gb should easily be enough room in my opinion. If you are just putting say 3 min videos together.

Yah,it doesn't take up a lot of space. If you export at a lower rate, then it will be smaller but should still maintain its quality. I don't got a probelm with exporting at a high rate cause I got a big fatty 120 gb drive.

i hope your joking about stealing it from school because that's really lame, especially if it's a public school. they have a hard enough time with funding as it is and when you're stealing it you're not only stealing from the school but you're stealing from the tax payers and every kid who doesn't get to use it, or has to go without something else to replace it.
