Well, I don't have much to write about so I just made a thread that anyone from West Virginia can post in *cough*bob and john*cough*
We played yesterday at the clinic. It's pretty sweet having friends that work there. The back room we play in has shock absorbers under the floor. Skooling whirlwinds has no affect on my shins. I don't like carpet much, but everything else about the room makes it worth it. I did jani walker>jani walker and other new combos. Don't wanna speak for what bob and john did, but I saw interesting things.
This Blind Guardian song is really good so I can't concentrate on this post anymore. later.

It's odd that you posted this, because i had the exact same thought
That day I hit - diving clipper>ducking clipper>diving clipper>ducking clipper>ducking clipper. Doesn't sound big, but it felt so good, I"ll work on same combo with butters.
I played a little tonight while waiting on laundry. Nothing special. It was way more fun than usual though. I'm leaving for Europe tomorrow. My birthday is Tuesday which is when I'm arriving. I can't really think of a better gift though I'm paying for it. I heard Sweden has the most beautiful girls in the world...I'll report back on that.
I can tell I haven't been playing much recently, although I had a pretty solid session. Any session is usually a solid session, as long as I can hit clippers. I hit legbeater>whirl bsos(both sides one string). Worked on my stepping sets some more, and just a general shred. I found out that my flip diving clipper is horrible, or atleast it is for tonight.
Tonight I shred with Bob at the tennis courts, I hit swirl>Op butter x5 . I worked on Rubberman, and failed quite miserably, although I feel it's close. I learned drifters for Mirken's Challenge. I did 5 back to back. I got 7 ducking clippers back to back, other than that, nothing else.
I haven't played at all in Stockholm, but today I'm going to play in the main tourist street with a hat and try to make a few Kronors. I've seen the most ridiculous street shows so I have to make something. I'll edit later and say how much I made.
btw, It's pretty much impossible to live in Stockholm and not have a hot girlfriend.
Great session with Bob at the Car wash, about midnight - 1:30 am. I didn't really hit any of my goals, but it felt good reinforcing all of my basic tricks.
well, while brads been gone me and john have been shredding it up, trying to sharpen up before worlds. i haven't really noticed much improvement in myself, john however is exploding.
i can't even think of the new combos i hit. last night i sealed 5 PS whirls in a row. my goodside is becomming more consistant, but still not where i want it to be. i did 8 consec clippers which is my record. i really want a flip drifter, buuut it's still really slow. also, me and john are seemingly unofficially racing to hit rubberman. we're both about at the same place with our atomics and steppings, but his are a little more consistant then mine i think.
also, brad, i plan on hearing lots of stories about how the women love your awesome footbagging and they can't help but do you.
I only made a few kronors street performing a few days ago, but I only played for 15 minutes or so. I didn't realize how tired I was from walking around for 3 days. I received many more claps though. Random people seem to like it a lot more than in the US.
I'm in Götenborg, the second largest city in Sweden. Right now the largest soccer tournament in the world for children 11-16 is going on. You can't go anywhere in the city (unless after dark) without seeing fleets of kids in matching uniforms walking around. I've seen teams from all over the world sponsored by pretty big businesses. I'm scared to go watch a game and see how amazing these kids are though I want to footbag near the stadium to see if they show any interest.
Oh, we'll be playing Nick. Only 10 more days until I get there.
hey man, i'm down. me and john have been everynight. although i think we may take a break tonight to recuperate(sp?) some. hope you are having fun buddy.
Tonight I hit Atomsmasher > Atomsmasher > Atomsmasher > Atomsmasher.
Also hit 12 ducking clippers back to back.
Pretty close to rubberman, I can really tell that playing a lot more than usual has been boosting my game. Next session, I'm hoping to work some on grifters, maybe paradox grifter both sides.
Here's a story of my first Jam, and how footbag is a sport like no other.
Firstly, I'm not supposed to go to this Jam with Bob, because there isn't enough room or something ?? Brad calls off sick, so I get to go to East Coasts 2000 - or maybe 2001 in Maryland. Back then I knew only a few basic tricks, didn't practice much at all, but just liked playing when Brad would ask me to play with him and Bob.
So we arive the first day, Bob and I walk around trying to find the freestylers, we find out that freestylers usually wake up a little later than 11'ish. The netplayers were already out , so Bob and I warm up and just kick. I do a couple moves like eclipse and mirage, as I do these moves, someone calls them out. "eclipse, niiice." I had no idea who those 2 guys were, but they were just chillin under a tree and stretching out. We talk to them and find out who they are, Yacine and Sebastien. Still, we had no idea who they were because we were the infamous noobs. Sebastien started to warm up, with pixie sets, every time back to back, consistantly chest high. Bob and I are speechless to how much skill that took.
So it's about lunch time, and they invite us to eat with them and what not before we start to kick. We run out and get a sub and sandwhich with them, just sitting talking, and then walking back with them. Later in the day when competition starts out, the announcer calls out Yaaaacine the Fiend from BAP. That's when we find out we just got our first confrontation with other freestylers, not just any freestylers, Big Add Posse. That day we probably kicked for 8 hours + . I never though how sore I'd be the next day because at the time, I was having too much fun watching , learning, and kicking.
way high intensity session last night. me and hood kicked (see his above). both of us were doing pretty well. I think kicking with john is boosting my game because we are kinda in similar positions on things. we are both doing the ducking clipper challenge, and both pushing rubberman.
FINALLY some new concepts are starting to come through for me. I midstringed PS whirl twice yesterday and also hit blurry whirl > drifter which is a good combo cause my drifters aren't awesome. and probably the most exciting thing i did was stepped out of whirl a few times. this has been pretty difficult for me cause my whirls aren't great and that is my bad side stepping. but now that whirls are getting better, stepping afterwards is easier. if anyone is wondering about a secret, i'd just say that really focusing on the stall afterwards and holding the bag for a split second before going into the stepping set helped me.
Euros is really cool. You always hear how much the European scene differs from the one here in North America and it's true. I've met players from many different countries. I did my first routine today and it was pretty weak as I expected, but it was a good experience. I met all the dicators. Felix Zenger still plays better than me even though he was in pants and has torn ligaments in his right ankle. Tuukka gave me pointers on competing, among other things and a kid from Estonia (I don't want to butcher his name) has one of the smoothest styles I've ever seen.
There's cheap beer and many cool people so it's a good time all around.
Bob and I shred tonight, getting prepared for Worlds, because we'll need all the endurance build up we can get. Of course since Worlds is coming, all can't be well in the physical realm of my body. My knee is healing quite well, I'm able to do 10's to hundreds of things I wasn't able to do before. Now I'm getting odd pains in both legs, not when i shred hard, just when i do random things, I'm guessing it's from muscle build from shredding more and harder. I'm just centimeters away from paradox grifter both sides, and it kills me I haven't hit it yet. I'm unconsciously hitting better guiltless strings, and getting closer to rubberman. It's amazing how excited I can get myself thinking about Worlds 2004, it can be so very random. I can be working, and I'll think to myself...*I'm going to be having the best time of my life with hundreds of footbaggers....for a whole week...* *I will finally see Vasek...and maybe he'll even bust out some beats...* So many postitive thoughts race through my mind every day. and even now, we're closer to the glorious day...and once i fall asleep, it will be 8 hours closer, and so on and so on.
