footbag skills in football (soccer)
footbag skills in football (soccer)
In generally one year I was developing my footbag skills, without ever trying any other sports. A week ago I joined some friends to play the so long forgotten football (soccer). You can guess that I basically sucked at the beginning due to my footbag-accustomed legs.
My question over here is the following. How can I take the advantage of footbag in football? I already tried clipper-passes (I actually saw these made by Zidane) and outside kicks. However these are not sufficient. Anybody out there with football and footbag skills, report.
P.S. My head was unused to football head play too. You can imagine what might had happened.
Or to make this topic alive, did anyone of you feel the advantage of footbag in any other sports?

My legs are stroneger, I run faster. And I used my strenght in football before i start play footbag. Now I'm technical player like Zizu (I don't like him
) or Del Piero.

if your good at atomic and quantum sets, there is a good fake in soccer that is very similar. Ben Kelman pointed this out to me, and now that i can actually do quantum i see how right he was. I call it a scissors move where u move your leg past the ball and come around the front of it and then shift your weight and go the opposite direction of your fake. A really good move if u can do it right.

Because I played a lot of Australian Rules Football when I was growing up, usually when I played soccer I was the goaly. However occasionally when I wasn't I found my balls skills were much better than they used to be. Unfortuantly my passing and shooting skills are woeful.
I also play a lot of touch football (similar to Rugby League - but very much it's own sport these days) and remember one game playing in the State Club Champs when I dropped the ball and instinctively toe stalled, then scored moments after. I didn't really notice the toe stall (I mean I knew I did it, just didn't react to it at all - I was focused on the game) but the rest of my team thought it was pretty cool.
Also the other day I was cooking meatballs and dropped one and toe stalled it as well which was very cool!

Got a crazy experience, too.
Wanted to refresh sheet of my bed, it is in a head high partition.
I grabbed it and because it lay on a stack of sheets I dopped it off
and outside the partition straight towards the ground, and what the fuck !?
I outside ATWed it ?! Completely automatically... Same with playing volleyball. I was in a volleyball sports club and was the only one who
didn't accidently used my feet when missing the ball, because I HATE(D)
SOCCER. Then, I left the sports club and joined the volleyball class in school, just 2 months after starting with footbag freestyle. I'm now still not able to keep my damn feet on the ground... Habits suck.

Old topic but I felt like posting. Footbag translates to soccer somewhat, but when you get into playing competitively, it doesn't help much. I'd guess that it would help endurance (I already had it pretty high), and dribbling, but I don't see how footbag could translate to passing, shooting, or defending at all. The thing footbag has helped me the most with in soccer is trapping, with implementing my left foot more and more a close second.
