i started by just kicking at school. at lunch an older kid started playing with me and he would do his version of atw. like with the bad on the ground he would set it with his hand, then circle around it. i thought it was cool so i looked up "hacky sack tricks" on the internet and i found footbag.

I still have one of those two panel pepsi footbags from the pepsi points promo. :P

Here's pretty much all you'd need to know about how I got started into freestyle (some of my records and stats are out of date). http://hack-bfa.com/members/johnny.html

Well i got started by a few different things. At a tee-ball camp i went to, a few of my friends were circle kicking and i joined in and i found it really fun. Then i saw 'She's all that' and saw Freddy do a bit of freestyle, I was pretty amazed by that so i searched up hacky sack and found footbag.org
Then i saw this show on tv with 2 australian shredders giving freestyle tips.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask. You do know that that isn't Freddy Prince Jr. doing the freestyle in She's All That, right?

That's exactly (almost) how I started too. Some friends in grade 7 got me into it and bought me bags for my birthday then I saw She's All That in, like, grade 9 or 10 and looked up "hacky sack" and found footbag.org.

some of my friends were playing with a crochet bag. I loved it... I bought a crochet and broke in my legs for a day or 2.

Got on the www and found footbag.org and I was like whoa... Ordered a sand master online in a frantic excited panic, waited a few weeks and by that time my friend had started importing them so my footbag collection grew and grew.

I gave a slightly more detailed story on footbag.org but I have work to do now so I is not getting into the whole enchilada...

My Uncle came to PA to visit me, from California
about 15 years ago.. He spends his free time
Hang gliding and when they are at the top of the
mountain, they all circle kick to pass the time..

So, when he visited me way back in the day, he
gave me one of those leather bags.. (I believe you
were supposed to boil them, to break them in..)
Anyways, since than.. I've been kicking in circles
for fun..... Straight through High School...

I was always known in my area as the guy, who
was really good at hacky sack.... Jesters, super jesters,
ATW's.... Toe and inside and outside delays.... lap, neck,
delays, and clipper kicks..... Well, spectators would walk
by and comment... And, one day... Someone told me that,
I should go to a competition....

So, I went to my first Funtastiks event.. .... Probably around
2000...... My main intention, was to compete in freestyle...
I went.... My draw was dropped to the ground... Probably by
watching half of you guys kickin' freestyle.. I didn't compete
in anything but Net and Golf... Way, too distracted and in shock...

I left the competition, thinking how amazing all the kicking was,
that I saw.... I purchased some lavers and Tricks of the Trade...
And, my addiction.... was altered and taken to the next limit...

Now I'm here, and won't be a leavin.....

Thank you everyone....
