the 520's are awesome
I just finished the mods on my new balance 520's. The are sweeeeeeeet. Less bulk, a more tapered toe and a smaller toe box. What I mean by a smaller teo box is the rails are shorter but just as high. The inside is a bit deeper, but with a nice clipper rail are other mods, it will be fine. Less weight and a new sole. New traction and pivot points with more flex. All of these items are compared to the new balance ct 300's. If you like the 300 model, then this shoe will blow your mind. Hope this helps,Richie

One more thing about the 520s. This shoe doesn't have that big moon boot feeling. It has the feel of a cross between a running shoe and a tennis shoe. Remember that line on the 300s in the middle of the inside. This one doesn't have that and there is a whole new array of layers of material to strip off and make the shoe even lighter.Hope this helps,Richie
Whoa glad to hear new balance has another awesome shoe that can be used for footbag.
I assume that you mean a shoe-goo clipper rail mod on the inside of the shoe? My CT 300's are too small so I need to buy a new pair, but if the 520's are even better I might consider switching. Have you shredded in these shoes yet? I'd like an idea of how different they feel as far as support and general feel/stalling that they promote. I like how they aparently don't have the moon boot feel. Also, have you tested how they feel if they get slightly wet? CT 300's slip like crazy if even a drop of water/sweat gets on the sole of the shoe. My shredding partner nate sweats like a madman
Thanks for always being on top of the game and finding new and improved gear to shred with! You the man Richie

I am going to use them this weekend when Big Add Chad comes down. If you have the 300's right now, then keep using them until you have your 520s modified. I am on my last pair of 300s and they are still under 40 sessions. I am just waiting for the mods to dry and cure and I will go test them. My confidence is high where this shoe is concerned. Thank new balance for keeping up with progress.Hope this helps,Richie

Do you mean unmodified in the toe box, or totally unmodified?AllanHaggett wrote:I been rockin' un-modified 520's for a couple of months nowI like 'em, but they take getting used to.
That's something I've been wondering about... The toe box looks practically good enough as is, so much so that it looks like it may not even need to be modified. Richie? Anyone else? Should you do this or not?
