The meaning of life

Post by lightningbolt »

Matt's manifesto (That rocks) inspire me to ask the question: What is the meaning of life?

I have asked my self this question many times over the years: What is the meaning of life? I found it hard to put into words or to even understand. When I am kicking or just laying in my bed I always think about this. What is it? Why were we put on this earth? What were we meant too do? What was I meant to do? Are we just a game to God, his toy to play with?

IMO, humans are to follow Jesus, God wouldn’t have sent him here if he didn’t want him to lead. I be the first to admit I don’t acted anywhere near how Jesus acted. I can be a real bitch. The meaning of life could be to be best animals we can and go to heaven?

Or, the meaning of life is a emotion. Like being scared shitless, that the meaning of life. If we didn’t get scared, we didn’t get happy, sad, fall in love or any other emotion. Would life be worth living? If, you couldn’t feel emotion?

Or it could be have much fun as you can living, and die. But I don’t really like this one.

Personally, I have no idea what the meaning of life truly is. I just throwing this out there, because I ponder this question a lot and I want to see what other people think.
I think I going to take over Canada. You should help.

The meaning of life is to point out the smallest errors you can spot in anything - especially errors that have no actual relation to the point of what's being presented.

42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. It is not the meaning of life!

but if it is the ultimate answer, it is quite possible the meaning of life as well. It's about as good a guess we can get at this point.

The meaning of life is to argue with democrats and make them mad.

The meaning of life is to be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes!

The meaning of life is to experience life. It's faults, it's justice, it's trees, plants, and shrubs, the inner child, the outter self, one another, debate, education....

But ultimately I believe it is to do unto others as you would have done unto yourself. (The Golden Rule - as taken from the B.I.B.L.E - Basic instructions before leaving Earth -Wu Tang Clan)

All I can say about it is that I think the meaning of life is unique to each individual and therefore has a different meaning for everyone. Lets not confuse purpose with meaning. Ask yourself, what makes you wake up every morning and live your day. One more thing, don't forget to live while searching for the meaning.Hope this helps,Richie

Yea, I think ana_ali is onta somthing.

Anything else I think is religious denial. Sorry to be so crass but I think finding purpose in a chance mistake/coincidence of our existence is pointless.

Maybe a ton of sex while were at it too. I hear some religions say that souls can't be created or destroyed, so maybe there is no sex in the afterlife and they reincarnate for that.

I think it's either 12, or the cubed root of pi.

Just because I can...

I think that the meaning of life is to be what you would consider happy. If you're happy, you are fulfilling your meaning of life.

To search and to find that eternal smile..
(Not possible without, love)

This is my meaning.. :!:

As said by MegaFighter_X, every mortal is looking for happiness in his life. And if it is not found, one frustrates or gets depressed. Kant said (lately it is regarded as a discovery) that happiness is not what man is seeking. It is rather fulfillment that he is trying to find. I'm not sure about this one myself, the difference between happiness and fulfillment. What do you guys think?

As for the meaning of life, I personally yet do not know. Maybe the reason I get up and not choke myself are the tasks I have yet to accomplish (like cleanly hitting that pixie butterfly or yet to read that Hugo book). Yet sometimes I really do want to choke myself.

I beleive the meaning of life is to improve yourself. Try to get all of your flaws worked out. I have many to work on if I do say so myself.

I think life by itself is a constant improvement of oneself. So what you said is: the purpose of life is to live... purposelessly? However, I can't argue with this deduction.

the point of life in my opinion is to enjoy yourself, being succsesful is not the only thing, if you work your intire life and die a millionare you've wasted your time on the earth.... everybodys working for the weekend because that is when they are truly alive, some people just live for the sake of living and that is sad...

Then how is that NOT the meaning of life? If that is all we do? What is the difference between life by itself and the meaning of life? Just my thoughts though.

The meaning of life is to take jesus into ur life and then preach the word of the Lord.

The greatest desire is for people to come to know God personally. The simple truth is that there is a God who created you and loves you very much. (Genesis 1:27) He gave us life and deserves our gratitude and love.

We, however, have chosen to disobey Him and sin against Him; all of us have done wrong and failed to do what is right. (Romans 3:23) We may not be more sinful than our neighbor, or we may be far worse than anyone we know, it does not matter. Either way, we are guilty before God. (1 John 1:8)

God is perfect, completely good, always right and fair. He cannot tolerate sin. He cannot simply overlook the fact that we have chosen to disobey Him. The Bible says "the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) This means that the fair payment for our rebellion against God is death. It is the punishment that we deserve.

Jesus, the one and only Son of God, came to earth and lived a perfect sinless life. He was crucified even though He was completely innocent. He received the punishment that we deserved. He was the perfect sacrifice, He was put into our place and took on Himself the sentence of death that should have been ours. (Romans 5:8)

Jesus did not, however, remain dead. After three days, He rose from the grave and later ascended into heaven. He will return for all those who are trusting in Him as their Savior.

Jesus died for you. You can be saved by asking Him for forgiveness from your sins (John 10:10). If you are willing to repent of your sin, He is waiting to forgive you. It doesn't matter what you have done in the past, if you cry out to Jesus for forgiveness, He will not reject you. The word "repent" literally means "to turn away from." You need to look at your life, admit that you are a sinner, genuinely desire to turn your back on that sin, and ask Him to forgive you. If you do this, He promises to forgive you.

True Christianity is not about attending a particular church, or how your parents raised you, or what country you were born in. Being a Christian means that you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that He is your Savior. It's not good enough that your priest, pastor, mother, or aunt knows Jesus, you must know Him for yourself. They cannot believe in Him for you, you must believe for yourself. They cannot repent for you, you must repent for yourself.

Jesus is everywhere all the time. He can hear you now if you ask Him for forgiveness. Please turn your life over to Him NOW. Time slips by so quickly, don't miss this opportunity. If you want to pray and ask Jesus to be your Savior, you can say a prayer something like this:

" Jesus, I know that I have sinned against you. I know the truth is that I have sinned by my own choice, and I am the one responsible for it. I know that I have earned punishment from You, and that the fair punishment would be death. Jesus, I believe that You died in my place. Forgive me for my sin. I cannot cover or take my sin away, I am relying totally and only on You. You are the only one who can save me. I reject my sin, I turn away from it, I repent. Come into my life, take away my sin, and show me how to live my life in a way that is right and pleasing to You."

If you have prayed this, YOU ARE SAVED! You are now completely forgiven, a new creation, innocent in the eyes of God. Welcome to the family of God!

It is important for you to start to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Just like any relationship, you need to spend time with someone if you want to know them well. The way to know God is through the Bible. Take a look at our links section to get a few suggestions and get started. It's also important to find a church you can attend where they teach the Bible (Hebrews 10:24-25) This will allow you to talk with a pastor who will help explain questions you might have, and it will give you a chance to spend time with other Christians who can encourage you.

THIS IS THE MEANING OF LIFE!
Take in mind that a average person uses the lords name in vain at least 5 times without relizing it. thats a sin!
he's a list of the command ments

1. I am The Lord YOUR GOD, YOU SHALL HAVE no other gods BEFORE ME.
2. YOU SHALL NOT MISUSE THE NAME OF THE LORD YOUR GOD.
3. REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY BY KEEPING IT HOLY.
4. HONOR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER.
5. YOU SHALL NOT MURDER.
6. YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.
7. YOU SHALL NOT STEAL.
8. YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE TESTIMONY AGAINST YOUR NEIGHBOR.
9. YOU SHALL NOT COVET YOUR NEIGHBOR'S WIFE.
10. YOU SHALL NOT COVET YOUR NEIGHBOR'S GOODS.

Peace be with you all
