hmm - I'm not really sure why you've brought that up Splint - I'm sure you read somewhere that I've changed my opinion on selfserves - but yes - if a bap person asked me to do something that I didn't want to do - and wouldn't do if someone else asked me to - I'd give them same response. I try to treat all people equally - regardless of their skill with a footbag.

Interesting poll.
If you're in a 2-man with me, you can self serve all you want. I need the breath, but it's rude with more people than that. Once a circle gets to 5 people (which is the max btw), start playing "one touch." It means there are no rebates at all so the bag moves faster around the circle and the flow is steady. If you can't keep the bag up enough to satisfy your playing time, it means you need to skool at home more.

I was out at Earth Day this year with Cameron Kenndy, Richard Abshire, Jason Crook, and Big Add Chad. We were kicking as usual and I self-served in public. Chad looked at me and said, "uh you said you don't self-serve in public", and I was like "oh yeah 
I don't" -hehe
I think we all still did though. The crowd didn't care, we got on 2 radio stations and filmed by a local TV station. Even had our friend Mike, who arrived late, tell us he heard - we were sweatin' our balls off playin' with our sacks - over the radio .

Self serving is less selfish than giving the bag up and looking at the next person like you want it back. No rebates is the only real way to play one touch, otherwise it becomes mind games.
The person who stares the next guy down for a rebate pass gets more chances than anyone else, and the person following the gazer is forced to either give them the pass or feel like an ass for taking the turn when they get the bag. Everyone in the circle knows the gazer wants a rebate, and I feel like the whole circle thinks I am an ass for not giving one. Then I begin to despise the gazer for convincing everyone else we are playing one touch, while they almost always get two tries because I can't just take my turn without feeling like as ass for doing so.
I'm going to suggest that people who feel similarly in a 'one touch' circle try the following.
If you get a pass and the previous person is looking for a rebate, stall the bag and ask them in a voice loud enough for the whole circle to hear, " Are we playing one touch or two ?" If they respond one touch, then let them know
" You are looking at me lilke you want a rebate pass and making me feel selfish for taking my turn, would you please not do that ?" Give them the rebate pass, repeat as needed.
Not all one touch is bad, and it has it's places. Having said that, Two touch circles are just more fun in my opinion because they eliminate someone else making you feel like it's not your turn when you have the bag, amongst other factors I mentioned previously.

Cameron touched on something about selfishness that I find interesting.
Self-serving by it's name is selfish, but so is expecting a rebate or it to be your turn even.
Hacky Sack was about not being selfish and passing the bag often.

I fully agree with u on this. Alot of times 1 guy needs alittle more time to rest up or he wants the other guy to show him something so self serving is accepted with 2 players. Hello, my name is Iain George.
Self serve in a circle where people are just trying to hit new tricks as a friends. Even then, not more than one or maybe two times. When you are shredding and especially if there's new guys or you are in a tournament, don't self serve at all.
It depends in what circle you play on and who you play with, either way, it's not fun to anybody if someone servers himself more than two times.

It's funny reading allans posts about anarchism and that it is not possible to sum it's sense up in just a few sentences....
Maybe not, but I do it in 2 words :
an archos, a greek expression for something that Bakunin philosophically "founded". It's not a thought, it's a political order, also specified as anarcho syndicalism (this defintion also is from bakunin, while he further specified the term).
So if Jeremy abstracts anarcho syndicalism to anarchy, he's totally right.
Maybe he didn't know that, but in fact you are talking about something you can't describe nearly. So to say it with your way of "sarcastically" expressing things "directly", 'If you don't know nothin' about, go shut the fuck up' ,
vulgarism shouldn't "offend" anyone, this is a "neutral" discussion platform, and like self-serving is an etiquette thing, being objective also used to be.....

The most annoying thing about self serving is when a person just kicks and kicks and then messes up. And then he does it again. And when he messes up again he gives it to someone else. But the thing i hate the most about this is when he just leaves out of no where.

I might be repeating what other people said but...
I hate self serving. It gets on my nerves. I kind of had a bad experience with it:
I was in a hack circle and this kid comes in to play. So, you know, I passed it to him and he immediately dropped it. So, he picked it up and tried again. No luck. He did this 5 times before he finally got a wild hit That I was able to control. It came back to him and guess what he did? 7 times this kid tried to make a decent contact. He ingore us saying "No self serves" or " just pass it with your hands". Finally, I just left, it was no fun playing when it took forever to be your turn. That's why I don't like S.S.
