New Camera!

I don't know if this kind of topic is annoying or generally frowned upon, or whatever, but I'm totally psyched about this, and I felt the need to share it with everyone. I guess to make this topic useful, you could also post about your camera/new cameras/cameras you want.

So anyway. I now have the Nikon N80 35mm SLR Body, the Nikkor 28-80 mm f/3.3-5.6G AF Zoom Lens, the Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF Zoom Lens, a really nice Nikon gadget bag, two rolls of TMAX 3200 film (not the shitty film shown in the picture), and two 3V batteries. The latter 3 were thrown in for free.

I am now completely and utterly broke, too. Oh well.

How much did that cost you? Cause I am looking into getting into photography.

This kit ran me $650. My dad and I split the cost 50/50, though.

If you're just getting into photography, I recommend taking a class, and using one of those old old fully manual SLRs. Using one of those, you will get a better understanding of how everything on your camera works. Classes should also get you in the darkroom, so you learn how to process your own film, and print your work.

Alright,Its gonna be hard finding a class in my city cause I don't think theres any but I'll try for a class in a bigger ctiy outside of mine.

If not, you could always make new friends. Hook up with some photographers in your area. I'm sure most of them would be more than happy to give you advice and/or share their experience with you.

I've gotten into photography fairly recently and as soon as I get back to the states I'm ordering a Nikon D70. I'm extremely into the digital phase and know that in five years from now "digi-camera" will be a thing of the past. Also, I have had some good experiences with my Minolta DiMAGE Z2 and have learned from it what I want and don't want.

Awesome. I've heard the D series is great. I haven't gotten in on the digital crowd yet, myself.
I prefer the old-fashioned film, processed and printed by yours truly.

Yah,same here. I like the style of the photos way better. Plus with film ones you don't have to worry about having 3 mega pixels and up to print full size 8x10.
