Legalize it?

Post by 420FootBager »

"do you do the ganja" kinda went this direction and some pasions flarrede so what do you think?

Should Marijuana be legalized? On what level, medical or recreational? why?

I think you should be able to do whatever you want to yourself in your own home including heavy drugs. If you want to kill yourself thats fine with me just make sure it doesn't affect annyone else. Crimes committed under the influence should have very severe penaltys like with alcohol.

I feel that weed is harmless and far safer then alcohol and should be absolutly legal.

DISCLAIMER: THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BELOW ARE MINE AND MINE ALONE. I AM IN NO WAY ADVOCATING DRUG USE. THE INFORMATION BELOW IS JUST THAT INFORMATION.

2nd that, with the exception of OD drugs such as Heroin. I feel that self inflicting drugs that are highly addictive, habit forming, and can kill you in small doses, should not be legal.

You can smoke a ton of pot, and you'll fall asleep for a while. That's about the extent. Heroin can kill you instantly if taken incorrectly or in the wrong amount. Seeing as how it is often in powder form, it can be difficult(especially while under the influence of other drugs) to gauge the amount in use. It is difficult to tell a gram from a half gram. These are very small quantities by the naked eye.

To some extent I'd like to see tobacco gone. Nicotine is a deadly poison and I have ODed on Nicotine twice. One drop of pure nicotine can drop a horse. That's scary stuff. It's not worth the risk to your health, your families health, or anyone that just happens by while you are smoking. I am biased in my opinion as a nicotine addict of over 12 years. I would love to quit, and am currently attempting for the millionth time. Hopefully this will be the last.

Lsd can make you clinically insane if taken in larger doses. But once again, these large doses are about the size of a postage stamp. One dose of LSD on white blotter paper is about a cm or 2 square or rectangular. Jimmy Hendrix (and others I know) take up to 10 or more at a time. It can do permanent damage to your spine, liver and kidneys and should not be taken on a daily basis for sure.

Mushrooms however, can be gauged by the stem. Some are more potent than others, and no chemicals have been added (although some dealers may have laced the crop). So a small dose of a mushroom will not yield the potentcy of LSD in blotter form. If you make a choice go for mushrooms and stay away from blotter.

Cocaine is another powdered substance that can drop you in an instance with a massive heart attack. I would not want to see it legalized.

Alcohol has it's own death statistics, and I am not a drinker by any stretch of the imagination and find it to be a complete waste of life to consume alcohol. I am biased against this drug as well, as alcoholism is a disese that affects my immediate family, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone or any family.

There are many pills that also have damaging affects that can last longer than the time it takes to enjoy them. I'm not going to get into those here, as there are too many to list. Stay away from them as well.

So in conclusion, pot good - everything else is bad!!!!

Medicinal Marijuana should've been made legal yesterday. There is more than enough research to prove marijuana benefits cancer, aids, hepatitis and glaucoma patients, not to mention a whole list of other patients of various diseases who would otherwise be unable to function without severe pain. As with Valium or Percodan, just slap a warning label on the bottle and be done with it already.

So many non-prescription drugs are approved by the FDA and put on the market ahead of marijuana that turn out to be extremely detrimental to the human body (dare I say Fen fen or Effedra). Unfortunately the social stigma attached to weed as an easily available recreational drug is extremely strong.

As for legalizing it recreationally, I am all for it as soon as there is a way to instantly and properly test it's levels in an individual body. I do not believe that people who have consumed too much weed should be out driving even though I'd rather have them smoking than drinking. The reality is that people are just not as good at driving on weed as they think they are.

You can say that about any drug including caffeine. Too much asprin on an empty stomach and you could be puking halfway to work.

I do however agree to an extent with you Brad. When I first started smoking I often got lost driving down familar streets, like I got tunnel vision or something. That past though after a few weeks and I've been driving fine every since.

Stay off the roads people Flex coming through  .

But seriously I agree that an individuals ability to handle any drug can affect their motor skills. Some are simply more tolerant than others.

That's impossible. If you die from drug use it affects all of your loved ones, including some people that you never knew would miss you. It changes what the future would have been.

Don't take what I said personally or think I'm a prick or whatever. I'm just bringing up a point. Me, I don't touch the stuff, I've thought about it many a time-and it's readily available around me. There could be a time I guess.

Legalize it or at least decrimanilise it. Pot and only pot. Other drugs are bad mmkay? Well, kinda ;) It's the people who lose control that make 'em bad, just like guns. Guns don't kill people, stupid shit heads with guns kill people.

With murder and rape as rampant as they are today, getting locked up for smoking a spliff is fucking ludacris.

Anybody that is going to OD on drugs if they are legal is going to do it while it's illegal anyway.

But anyway forget that last bit I said cause you can't die from pot anyway.....

No it hasn't. It was only a matter of time before this topic came up again. Personally I'm glad to look in on this section and not see "Reason's not to vote for...", or abortion, or suicide at the top of the list. Those discussions were getting old.

As my grandpappy once said about his kidney stone..."This too shall pass."

I'm not sure if Peter Tosh ever checked with his Doctor about those two, but I find it highly unlikely that smoking anything helps with respiratory problems.

ana_ali,

I think you would be surprised to find out just how many people use or have taken drugs in their lifetime.

Up until the age of 17 I was a pretty guallable guy, I spent most of my free time at home and didn't interact with people very often. At the age of 17 I bumped into a neighbor at the neigborhood pool in a new area I had moved to. The guy was X-navy and a smoker. I had only tried it a few times with hippies from school, and immediately attached a stereotype to stoners. All stoners = hippies from school. Well, surprise surprise, the x-navy guy didn't look like a hippie at all, in fact he was far from it. He became a good friend and smoking buddy for the next year.

When I got to college it was all I could do not to smoke, the ratio was something like 3 out of 5 smoked. I was stunned, to realize that that many people smoked. Out of those 3 at least one was onto something else. It was amazing to me that that many people could live normal lives and have this dirty little secret.

Turns out there are a great deal of full grown adult Americans in high positions that smoke. One of which was a VP for First Union, a bank on the east coast. Another was CEO of another bank in Chicago.

It's not just a fad or footbaggers thing to do. It is apart of many Americans daily lives, and I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to discuss it here, just as we do everything else.

Tobacco is far more worse drug than marijuana.

Because of that it should be banned, too. Though it wouldn't resolve anything, it would still be justice.

I find smoking tobacco or marijuana equally disqusting, though tobacco is worse to yourself. Don't do either, be wise. Feel free to say no and be different.

OK, OK!!! (Me and my big mouth...) I don't wan't to hear any life stories! I just say that drugs are bad, m'kay?
There's just no reason to start defending drugs on this forum, like those "Reason to not to vote for ---" threads this is also just throwing opinions.
The youngest user of this forum maybe about 12-13 years old!! What do you guys think when even the moderators are telling that pot isn't after all so dangerous - what does the little kid think about that?
I really don't care how many important Americans have been smoking, I really don't. But I'm not very surpriesed of that. It's not my problem - yet. I hope that they don't freek out I mean. Smoking pot may have some side effects like skitsofrenia.

So I'll just stick with Jere and say: "Feel free to say no!"
