My first bag!

Well I've stitched my very first bag ever! Infact it's the first time I've done any kind of stitching (apart from sewing on two buttons for a shirt) since 1998 when I had to learn to sew in home ec (and infact managed to make an apron in the whole time - other people made about 10 things and my teacher finished it off for me in the last lesson of the year

- needless to say it was one of two subjects I ever failed at school (the other was metalwork...)

The stitching is ok - I obviously need practice - but the material sucks and the thread is pretty shit too (I made it out of some scraps) - infact I'm too afraid to kick the bag because I think it would fall apart!

That will change however as now that I know how to make bags, I'm going to get some proper material and thread - and sew some good bags to sell!

I'll let you know when that happens. I keep complaining that there is nobody who stitches 32 panel bags in Asia or the Southern Hemisphere - so I thought rather than complaining about it, I'd do something about it.

here is the a picture of my bag next to an abshire mini. I'm sure you can guess which is which!

Definately needs a lil' work..
But a great first bag..

I still haven't made one, so I have
no room to say anything...

Was this a one time thing or are you going to continue on this?
It looks pretty good for your first bag. What type of materal is it made out of?

Looks pretty good for your first bag. I stiched my first bag yesterday. It was a 4 pannel sandbag and I accidentally made it the size of a pop cap.

the one good thing that really stood out was it's size... the first bag everyone makes is usually either WAY too small or WAY too big. i make 4 and 12 panel sand bags out of crushed panne... i bought some ultrasuede to start making a 32... i'm just too lazy, my first bag is obviously not going to turn out as i want it to be... and i just don't want to shovel out all the time for a piece of shit practice bag, but the only way i'll get better is to practice making them, so good job on actually completing a bag, and good job on the size.

Great job Jeremy. The only bag I made was ultra-suede and it was crap and it even came with instructions so i'm pretty incompetent... Great job.... I really should make a 32 one of these days... the guess work on the sixe was perfect... Keep it up and you'll be like carol or the other people who shred and stitch.
