From the little I can tell, they came unmodified. The inside is definitely not modified, and from the looks of it, I doubt the outside was modified either. You can infer that it's not modified, anyway, as few people take off the mesh. Take a picture of the outside of the shoe as well.

Its not modified. You might think it is, but it isn't. The WFA doesn't modify your shoes for you. The canvas and mesh is glued together, so you might think its only one layer. If you feel it, the sides of your lavers will be kinda stiff, but after you cut out the canvas, the sides become softer.

Don't worry, you're not the first person to think that their lavers came pre-modded.

Hahahaha another one... yeah man, just be careful when you mod them or you'll end up with fabric glue drops on yours like mine. Not very pretty. I want new lavers, kinda. Hmm.

No, there is not 2 layers of mesh. Are the sides stiff? If there was no canvas, it would be nice and thin, and soft. Look closely at the material on the inside and outside, the 'weave' (is that the right word?) of the material should be different.

As I said, there is no way that the WFA would mod your shoes for you. If they did, you would clearly be able to see where the inside canvas layer was cut out, the material would sort of 'fringe' (is that the right word?)

Meh, English isn't my first language...

Alright, I made this same thread. I felt like a dummy. What you think is a modification is where the leather on the inside of the shoe doesn't cover the instep on the inside. If you noticed, the texture of the canvas on the inside of the shoe is different from the texture of the MESH on the outside of the shoe. That tells you that there is two materials here. They are glued together. You have to make a cut from the inside through the canvas, but not through the mesh, and you have to seperate the two materials. Finally, you completely cut away the canvas.

edit: Oh, and I can tell the inside surface IS canvas, because of it's criss cross pattern. That's how the canvas is, and that isn't how the mesh is.

The mistake I made was from a tutorial I found. It showed them cutting away the leather on the inside. My shoes didn't have the leather on the inside so I was like "wow, these are modified already!" I failed to realize that there was also the other step of cutting out the canvas. When you do modify your shoes, be very very careful, and it might be helpful to soak your shoes in hot water and let them dry to loosen the glue between the canvas and mesh. Hope this helps.
