Tapping, Slapping and fulldexes
Tapping, Slapping and fulldexes
I would like to know when Tapping and Slapping sets are fulldexes. In my opinion Tapping is a fulldex when the next part of the move is an out-in dex, for example: Tapping Ilussion gets 2 fulldexes - similar to Double Ilussion, which is simply a Tapping Ilussion w/o plant; Tapdown gets 1 fulldex and one halfdex - similar to Paradon. And Slapping is fulldex when the next part of the move is an in-out dex, for example: Slapping Mirage gets 2 fulldexes - similar to Toe Barrage. What do you think about this? Am I right?

I have a feeling this was inspired by me saying toe barrages and mofly getting xdex when others felt it didn't.
I'm not exactly sure. I can definatly understand what nagasake and a few others (i think) were saying about double downs and toe barrages not getting xdex. In my opinion, a trick like atom smasher always feels more "Xdexy" than a toe barrage. I almost consider an "op" component more xdexy than a ss dex, regardless if it is another full dex or not.
BUT! I was just using the definition that i have interpreted for xdexes.
I'm really quite curious about xdex. I know there was a thread about it, but i also remember a moderator deleting a bunch of topics and i don't know if its still here. I know its been discussed many times over, but its just another one of those controversial topics, like paradox.

Its just about that confusing...

I disagree. We should consider each dexterity separately.
Tapping is always a half dex.
ex.
In Kiwi - Tapping Paradon we have one half dex (taping), plant, one full dex (first paradon dex) and one half dex (2nd Paradon dex) The first dex is one action, and next two dexes are the second action. But Paradon with three dexes is one full dex (first dex), second full dex (x-dex, 2nd dex in move), and half dex (last dex).
Like Paradon and Tapdown - they aren't the same move - two difrent moves.
Taping paradon shouldn't be X-DEX move.
And Delusion - it has two full dexes in one action. Two or more full dexes = X-DEX move. And Tapping Ilusion - two actions - first action is half dex (tapping set) then plant and 2nd action - illusion dex (full dex). Tapping Ilusion isn't X-DEX move. And Dellusion should be downtime move. Taping Illusion is shufle move.
Same With Slapping and In-To-Out dexes and Nuclear and Out-To-In dexes.
And Fusion feel definately more x-dex than Kiwi.
I'm sure I'm right.
Greats.

You seem to be ignoring that with tapdown or kiwi that you have to bring your leg back under the bag after the atomic. Why doesn't that count for anything?

I think it depends a lot on your technique.
I find fusion much easier than Kiwi. I've hit Fusion countless times - linked into and out of other 5 adds. I've hit Kiwi once - completely unlinked. Of course part of that is because I try to hit fusion much more than I try to hit Kiwi. But Kiwi also feels very awkward for me. Fusion is just a legbeater with an extra dex. You can bounce off the plants to perform the move and fall into it. Kiwi is a tapdown with an extra dex. I think Tapdown is harder than both parradon and legbeater for the reason Newf mentioned - the first dex is a full dex. You do the dex, plant and then move so that the bag is coming in towards you and then back out - You are also slowed by the plant which is tapping rather than alowing you to bounce off it - you gain much less momentum from it. All this means you have much less time to perform the double dex at the end - so it's much easier to "the" and less time means you have to move faster.
That said - Max from Germany has an awesome kiwi and hits it much easier than fusion. The reason for this I think is because he does his double downs with a more leggy style than I do - so doesn't have to bring the footbag back inside the knee to do the second and third dex.

upon reading this i realized that i was devoting this towards ptaku and completely not even thinking about why this thread was created. sorry to go off subject.
moves with the same jobs must have the same add count because they have the same components. we can't start breaking down moves into the times that they are executed because lots of people execute moves at different times of the tricks. some people that do barrage from clipper have it very up time. others do it almost all downtime, and still others do it somewhere in the middle. we can't have tapping paradon and whatever it's equivalent name with all dexes downtime have different add counts. if we did this, then we would have to look at every move and decide on new add counts depending upon where the bag peaks and when every dex is executed. if you look at every move in footbag, it can be done at different times, but still if they have the same jobs, they are the same add count (xdex or not).
