Worlds 2004 Updates

I didn't agree with all the results- like Nate Linscott not making it through the pool of death for example, but that's the breaks. Nate went first and made an awesome 1-drop routine... Props to Nate for handling it maturely.

Thanks Ellis. I think Conor from salem was the only person to tape my routines. Hopefully I can get it posted sometime. I was very prowd of it and not making semis only ensured I went out on top:)

Johny Murphy and Dan Eddny were BOMB!!!! They represented hard core!
My favorite circle was with juan rangel, andrew grant and ken somolinos, then later davids clavins, in front of the hotel. And also the 2 am shred with Peter Irish and Rick Reese. Rick passed me the bag when I steppped in, he looked away, then looked back 20 contacts later and said "Thats still his first touch?" Word, representing for Eugene.

...Watching finals with juan . bullsh#ting with ricky moran and taunting alesh to bust huge. Watching Vasek look bored in a circle go find jorden moir, every one starts watching , and then a MASS MIGRATION to the stage to see the battle of the bad asses. Chess bumping Sunil Jani. Partying with world champions. Listening to Jonathan Schnider. Sliming ken Somoinos. Watching Felix scury around at 5 am. Watching Chad in the THE circle at 6am. Listening to Matt Cross play guitar. pretendning to have a french acssent and being laughed at by the locals.

That was my first Worlds... AMAZING! is all i can say. Ive seen plenty of videos but you really cant appreciate how good players like Vasek, Jordan, Weber etc are untill you see them live, and shredding.
Some jaw droppers = Vasek shred, hitting rippstrien three times sameside then double blender. furrious ducking (dont know if he landed anything out of it), but pretty sure i did see it clear his neck once on saturday night. might have seen frontside nemisis, it was dark and the legs are fast, it was at least close: I think Jordan hit frontside barroque, and some other hugh stuff that i cant comprehend. way better since last year when i saw him. Somolinos - what is What?
would have liked to shred more and see more shred, but i was only there for three days, and for 1 and a half of those it was raining.
By the way Vasek is one of the best beatboxes ive ever heard. who knew?
Montreal is beautiful, many hotties, but they all seem to be minors. The skull bar was sweet (Foo foo's?) tons of shreders getting wasted and dancing is always a good time.
Wish i could go to finland next year but thats a journey and a half!

Some personal-favorites/must-see's if there are videos of them:
(Semis) French connection doubles, so creative and with hugh 3, maybe 4?, dex tricks, and ducking combos. too bad it fell apart in finals: Linnenen routine, amazing after the music breaks the yelling was very appropriate: Yacine routine, beautiful dropless: Ales routine, hilarious music.
(Finals) Top 4 finishers all rocked, especially Flash, So stoked to see him go dropless, i think it was the most entertaining performance just not the biggest moves: Jordan routine, very creative, a definate contender: Top 2 finishing doubles routines, The czech's doubles was flawless.
(other) Vasek vs Jordan shred off, then the big circle on stage is historic. Vasek beat box. linscott shred, caleb shred.

Worlds was crazy. I didn't shred half as much as I should have (didn't really belong in most circles), for the majority of the time I was there, I was taking pictures, getting insane video (from the Hyatt balcony 7 stories above the Big Shred!!!) I was learning and listening and keeping my mouth shut as much as I could. I was sight seeing and being a hardcore loser tourist.

I got to meet some very nice people, I got some insight into the ettiquite of the sport. I got to cheer our boy Jorden FRIGGIN Moir on into the finals! w00t! I got to see net for the first time ever, and it is ten times more intense then I thought it was. I talked to Vandal, Joel and Andrew Grant for a while and sent props home with them for Chan (chan man, if you want my killer footage of worlds, all ya gotta do is ask!) I got to kick with a guy from Alabama and a guy from Australia. I took care of a shredita that rolled her ankle and made a friend in the process.

I got singled out by Eli for having my camera light on (Im sorry Eli, I didn't know it was on). I got kicked out of a mall for filming Jarrett and John from CIC shredding by the sweetest indoor fountain. I walked all over the city and saw lots of sites, got some solo shred in at some killer Grafitti sites, Talked to Daryl and Sunny (nice people, great contributions to footbag) and got to see Vasek and Honza rip the Rialto to shreds.

All in all, it was the most amazing week of my life, and has made me want to do more for the sport and kick harder and progress further, and just see where it takes me.

P.S. Our website missed payment cause I was at worlds this week, our sigs and the site will be back online tomorrow night at the latest.

I don't really know where to put this but i figure this is as good a place as any.

I want to first say thank you to all people who supported me before and during this event. Second I want to address the fact that I sucked, hard core. I was the hype, I was all talk and I didn't stand up to it. Jordan-now thats the real deal!! thanks for showing me how its done.

I earnestly want to congratulate everyone that came away from worlds a winner. They all deserved it and it couldn't have happed to better people!!
I came in injured and performed horribly in the events and didn't want to jump in any big circles. I sensed early it wasn't my year and faded to the back ground. I did have some good strings in random other circles, but nothing really worth mentioning besides my two new 8 adds (blurry mo-fly & alpine shooting paradox whirl), alpine blurtigo bsos (coined by Ken Somolinos-blurry vertigo), and i got two new sixes the last day: surfing osis bsos.
I know i was controversial when it came to BAP induction too. Thanks for the LOVE guys. You made the right decision!
well i think thats the schpeal....i look forward to shredding with all of you next year and upcoming tournies.

ANYWAY cool combos that I saw:
vasek-ripstein>zigzag>symp whirling swirl
dylan-gyro and spinning drifter bsos
johny murphy-pdx legbeater>ripstein more than once
jon s- basicaly every string contained a move/combo that no one else in the world can hit
me-blury whirl>zulu butterfly>PS whirl (keep an eye out for the THOMASS vid)
red >atleast 3 blurry 5s and 3 spinning 5s in about every run he did
peter>blurry torque>inspinning mirage
penske- 46swirls with a rev swirl on like 22. also fearless stuff and awsome friged osis stuff
ken somolinos-quantum eggbeater in cargo shorts down to his calfs
so much more that I forgot but I must say that cheebs, the clever and dan eddny were bomb!
EDIT: and props to sebastian and nick L. I think those two have the most unique moves of anyone. Huge difficulty and a very uncommon move selection.

THAT WAS THE DOPEST WORLDS EVER!!!... I feel sorry for anybody who didn't attend. The shred, the parties, everything was off the FREAKIN HIZZLE.. Except for the poor lighting off stage and a lot of the european girls not making it, everything was pretty much perfect. The competition was still super hard even with Lon and Ryan not making it... 3 dropless finals routines! There was also Insane SHRED in the circles!! To much to mention!

It was a TRUE worlds.. All sides of the globe were represented. Ken brought 7 japanese who showed up at the tam-tam on sunday and pretty much got the week started. Everyone was kicking good it seemed. I felt okay early in the week but got bit tired at the end, oh well. I did get 2nd in my quarter finals pool next to vasek, and 3rd in my semi finals next to Jim and Vasek. I have tons of motivation now to skool my ass off..

Even with all this, there really wasn't any pressure at worlds04, because you only wanted to kick good for YOURSELF!!!

To me, it was all about having fun.

I actually won Penske with the smallest marginal there is, one ranking point. So I was 5th and he was 6th, it could've been both ways..

Yeah it was so cool to have players around the globe. In semifinals there were players around the world, which clearly shows how much the level of footbag is rising all over the world!

he did that when he got first in intermediates in 2000 (go dropless!). it gets the crowd going i'm sure.

Basicly whenever he is really satisfied with his performance. I can remember 4 times he's done some major celebrating after his routine:

1) Worlds 2000 Intermediate (finals) 1st Place
2) Finnish Footbag Open 2003 (finals) 6th Place
3) Euros 2004 (finals) Third place
4) Worlds 2004 Semis (eventually 5th place)

.. all those 4 routines have been under heavy pressure and have been his best routines as well. They aren't planned, that's just how he felt at the moment, having done his best at a time it really counts. I have a huge respect for him for being able to do that. I always choke when I have pressure and I'm on a stage, but it just makes him better and draw energy from it!

btw. on a side note he 'dedicated' that Semi-routine for me by throwing the bag at me on the balcony. I caught it and later asked why did he throw me the bag and he said he just felt like it's because I've been pushing him to play more that he's improved a lot. That made me happy
