insomnia

Post by LinksYs »

Does anyone else have a problem with insomnia :?: :? It's 5:39 A.M. and I can't fall asleep. This happens all the time. When I do go to sleep I don't wake up till 2 pm But the hard part about today is that I have to get up in 4 hrs to go to work, Then after that I have to go straight to ice hockey! :!: 8O

Does this happen to any of you if so what is a cure? :?:

I have the same problem, though it's not as bad lately.
Do you stay up really late on your days off? Are you a night person? That's what threw me off before. Having a regulated sleeping pattern (go to bed and wake up the same time every night and day) will probably help a lot. I used to call in sick at work because I hadn't slept all night, but now I'm so busy after work that I'm tired enough to fall asleep when I get home. On the days where I still can't fall asleep until 5 or 6 in the morning (or 8!!!) I can still wake up for work because I'm so used to waking up every day now.

ya, i do the same thing, i stay up till 5 or 6 in the morning and dont wake up till like 1, its just sorta a habit ive gotten into, my advice is you should probably try forcing yourself to get up at a certain time like 9 or 10 to start then each day make get up alittle bit earlier. but if its really serious you should go to a doctor so they can prescribe you some sleeping pills.

Personally, I'd go with the pot first... Pills, even prescribed, scare me.

Or you could try NyQuill. That stuff is potent...

Wait pills scare you but pot doesn't, out of curiosity my I ask why, pills are very well regulated as opposed to pot which probably isn't... maybe I'm wrong though, please educate me.

I have lots of sleeping problems and something my doctor told me that had instant results was - Don't use a computer after 7 pm. Since I started doing that I've been able to get to sleep much earlier (before midnight on every occasion!)

Don't know if you'll be happy with the solution though - you might think not sleeping is a worthwhile sacrifice for going on the computer at night... :?

Yeah, that would work.
Or do this: Lay flat on your back, with your left hand on your tummy. Colse your eyes. Push every thing out of your brain. Everything! Always keep your mind empty. Tottaly empty is the key. Inhale deeply (if you want you can put some a calming herbs bag by your face) hold exhale. Just do this.... It works for me.
Now I gonna get flamed by doing it the "natural" way. But, pot is nautral, hmmmm.
I think I going to take over Canada. You should help.

"They" did a study that said that if you are looking at a screen, such as a TV or a computer, then you will be "fighting" your body for up to two hours to go to sleep. Sometimes I would imagine it grows longer than this. See, I use a computer until I go to bed, but I work a long day job so that when I get home I am tired. I would highly suggest to the "insomniacs" on this board to try doing something active during the day and then not using the computer after 7 PM just like Jeremy said. Then get in your bed at 9 PM and relax. You should find it slightly easier to fall asleep. At least try it twice. Always try things twice.

Also, as a sidenote, many of the people on this board are in between ages (I think it was) 13-21. Apparently, people in this age range need more sleep because their brain is actually still growing, and apparently it helps if they are getting more sleep. Regardless of whether this is true or not, I do know that people of this age range need more sleep during their day because their whole body is still growing, hormonal changes are occuring, etc. Keep this in mind as well.

So to sum up:

1) Do something active during the day, and eat healthy meals.
2) Turn off all your "screens" by 7 PM. After that, maybe you could read a book or talk on the phone.
3) Get in your bed by 9 PM and try to relax.

Now, anyone who knows me knows that I don't follow this advice I'm giving exactly, but I do know that it has worked for me and others in the past.

I had some symptoms of imsomnia, and it was because the depression I had that particular time.

I'm all right now, though.

Imsomnia can be caused by so many things. Go to see a doctor, you'll get analyzis and if you're lucky, pills which helps you to fall asleep.

Well.. I guess it's pills you get off the street. Thats when stuff gets hazy. The same could be said about pot too. If it's prescribed, the pills are fine, though.
