My friend at work said that he can't use his Doom 3 beacause he has a bad video card. so i said i would buy it from him. Then he said he would give it to me for $20. I think i might buy it lol it's a good deal.

In terms of gaming, you want the biggest baddest video card out there. Your video card contains a GPU (graphical processing unit) and video memory (RAM). Most, if not all of the 3d rendering calculations are done on the card, as to take some heat off of your CPU. So all those textures and 3d models are worked out on your video card. The speed at which all these calculations are performed depends on your card's speed (GPU speed and memory speed) and amount of memory on the card itself. NVidia and ATi put out the top line cards today, the geforce4 models and ati's 9800xt or whatever it is. When getting a new card, look for one with at least 128mb of memory.. today's games (like doom3, hl2) have so many textures and humongous levels that you'll want tons of memory. Of course, your gaming performance isn't based solely on what video card you have. If you get a top level card, you'll need to have a fast processor and a buncha RAM to get the best performance out of the card. hope that helped

If you have any questions with specs and requirements for running D3 with any or all of it's settings go to http://notebookforums.com These guys can give you links and tell you everything there is to need to know about the game. From what I hear the requirements to run the best rendering setting on D3 aren't even available in computers yet (512MB vid card), the strongest card out is the Radeon9800 256MB which is only offered by Dell until the start of next month.

I really want to play this game....

maraxus there are 512 mb cards out there. i get the Tigerdirect.com catalog in the mail and there is this crazy brand that makes 512 mb video cards, and more. sure they are over 1 grand but they are still available

check ur facts..

Ok where? Show me a 512. My advice came from more of a notebook related perspective but I do believe the same cards are available but the desktop has the X800.
