Really good electronic bands

I guess I don't really mean bands but anyway. Personally I'm not a fan of punk music - but what I am a fan of is, electronic/techno/beats etc. So I thought for some equality

we should have a topic on that.

My favourite group is Juno Reactor - who are awesome! Pistolero is probably my favourite track.

I've also been converted by Lynton (who's a big fan) into listening to a lot of Prodigy although I only have their first album...

And I've started making my own music too. If I could find an easy way to upload it to the net I would (feel free to give suggestions) but as yet the only sites I've found that will let me do it make it hard to listen to. My stuff still needs lots of work anyway.

given the staggering outcome of this poll, I think it is safe to say that there are too few names for this type of music.

I like the way the name gives an idea of what to expect, to some extent.

Juno Reactor does rock Jeremy. I know they do some stuff for the Matrix Soundtracks as well. If you ever want to trade some songs, have me send you some or just talk about whatever feel free to add me to MSN.

haha, i just downloaded this song (pistolero) and I really like it, kinda upbeat.

i like juno reactor although Ive heard limited amts of their music.

I enjoy really hard D&B like Stakka and Skynet (like "spider monkey," "decoy,")

yeah, some how i don't think that's the kind of electronic music they were talking about...

any way. i've gotten into my house breaks, like the dark, progressive and funky. the breakfasters are up there as my faves at the moment. also kinda into tech breaks, but no one really stands out for me yet...

I'm really into any kind of breakbeat or drum and bass... Things that stand out right now are LTJ Bukem, DJ Shadow (Stephen - Preemptive Strike is great

that short break somewhere in the first half of In/Flux is great), other slower sounds like Massive Attack, a little more experimental stuff from DJ Spooky, etc. I love a lot of electronic that's placed all over the chart.

Jeremy - I also write (or wrote, don't write as much anymore, though that's always subject to change) electronic music. What are you using for this? I'd love to shoot you the name of some great, solid applications if you're interested (not applications that write the music for you, obviously, but tools that are there to be used).

At the moment I'm using a combination of "Fruity Loops" - FL Studio 4 and DSS DJ 5. Both seem like good programs although FLS 4 is only the demo version which means I can't save my projects - so things I make in that I have to finish in the same session I start them in

If you get serious about writing electronic music, look into Reason and the other products at propellerheads.se. All of them are very solid programs. Very professional. Also, if you want to mix things such as you would on a turn table but on your computer, Traktor DJ Studio. Another top notch program.

i like more the down tempo side of dance although, i am never one to shy away from tech house stuff....

some of the groups i like, in no order are:
thievery corporation

dj shadow / krush / cam
coldcut
chemical brothers (only exit planet dust)
Kruder & Dorf
Josh Wink
nightmares on wax
aphex twin (only a handful of stuff from him)

Haha the poll turned 666 when I voted.

My DJ name is "BigDirtyFoot." I put out a CD two years ago. I'll maybe work on one next year when I'm in college. It was always lots of fun.

I am in the process of converting to Cubase 2 with a GRIZIP of VSTi's. VSTi's are Virtual Sound Technology? Instruments. This is really f*ing amazing. This is like... having every keyboard, drum machine and effect I have ever wanted on my computer. Then I plug in a midi keyboard through the Audigy 2 EX Plat. MIDI interface I just got **EXPENSIVE, IM in debt now
