women at Worlds? HELL YEESSS there were toons of women at worlds. Walking down the streets of Montreal I saw some of the finest looking babes I have ever seen

. Instead of shredding I could have just checked out hunnies all day

good times
there were some not too bad looking shreditas too

I came back to Wisconsin and I was like BLEH! The women in Montreal are 10x better than here!

I think you definitly did the good choise on competing... and Marc too by the way... You coud not have not compete... Worlds were at your home!!!
Your routine was pretty good for your first tournament and the time you've been playing, to go on stage is not easy at all, and it has probably been a good experience for you... You should compete as much as you can...
I really wish you'll not be discourage (découragé) buy this threat, and even you'll be kicking harder with Marc... You'll both kick ass pretty soon!!!

Hi Jane,

I just saw your routine for the first time after judging it at Worlds 03.
I liked it better this time than at Worlds.
Nevertheless, I still remember the very moment I saw THE "1" you got in artistic interpretation. And it surprised me very much. Technically your routine was the best on, but in my opinion you did not perform the best artisitic interpretation.

In My opinion, routines are about presenting footbag freestyle. Make it look cool for the audience (players+non-players). And I totally agree with Zimmermann, that players focus too much on technical difficulty and almost leave blank their presentation.

i hear where you're coming from. Regardless, 8 drops does NOT equate high artistic merit...nor good presentation. same for 6 drops. no matter how you slice it up. drops are unsightly, poor presentation and of unprofessional caliber...even with obvious planned choreography etc. drops lose. think about it...in 2-min with 8 drops, that's one drop every 15 seconds.

The significance of drops should really be discussed in detail in judging clinics at future tournaments...it's like no one takes these into consideration anymore.

edit: I should add that I appreciate some of the judges speaking up...and it is good that you can state your reasoning (though I may disagree with it

) and stand your ground on how you called it then. that is a good quality in a judge.

yea i'm going to have to agree with jane here. i haven't really formed an opinion about 2 min routines being more artistic or technical, but one thing we should all be able to agree on is that drops take away heavily from both. they stop the flow completely, and look bad.

I can't believe the amount of dissuasion Jane is getting. She has many good points, but the simplest & most obvious ones are:

1) Men's & women's routines are not judged in the same manner.
2) Regardless of her presentation score & whether the judges still hold to their scoring, an 8 drop routine should not be given 1's for presentation.

Therefore, Jane got so cheated, unintentionally. I was there, when the scores were first posted, Jane placed higher than Isa. Then she placed lower than Isa in subsequent postings. Huh??? This seemed to me that some judge(s) changed their scoring after the initial posting. Maybe there was a typo issue. Either way, it seemed unprofessional. Can you imagine what it does to a competitor's psyche to find that he/she places higher in one moment & then lower in the next?!

that is simply due to the judging system of ranking players relativley against each other. same thing happened to me last year at euros where in my pool i was first ranked higher than tuvu (due to my tm scores) but while he kept his scores in artistic (which were his much better scores), other people got between us in artistic thus lowering my ranks...i couldnt understand it either in the first placed but thats how it can always go. thats why i think its kinda confusing to post ranks mid-pool...

I agree with Paul on that point. results shouldn't be shown until the last competitor leaves the stage.

Yeah in the worlds I spied the computer, first I was ahead of penske, then he was ahead of me a couple players but finally I won with one point :) Same happened with me and Oleg Donner last year Finnish Opens but the scores were shown publicly. So maybe it's a good idea just to show the final scores when the last competitor leaves the stage.. OR we could explain this to audience so they'll understand that the rankings can change even if they have hard time understanding why.
