do you like your style?
I was just thinking about a good thing to talk about, and this sounded like a good topic. I found it funny how at worlds Felix Zenger told me that he hated his style, but yet liked mine. It's funny how i feel the exact opposite. I love his, but dislike mine. I think im a bit repetitive and my whirls look weird. Only sometimes am i satisfied with how i look when i watch film.
so. do you like your style? do others enjoy your style but you dont? perhaps people dont like their own style becuase they are to self critical.
just some thoughts.

I dont like my style and yet I dont really know what my style is. I have been told by some players that my style is different than everyone else but have never been told how, I also never tape myself or watch footage of me playing so I have no idea how I look when I shred. What I do know is that some styles work better for footbag than others and I wish I had a super controlled crazy ankle style like vasek or a super fast whipy style like jim p.

i HATE my style... i seemed to be crouched over most of my tricks. I also dont in smooth jumps (you can tell by my shirt). Its just discusting..
I was talkin to Jim J. online the other day and i told him i would trade where we were in skills (linking and bigger tricks) for his style. He is smooth and i wouldnt mind starting over for that kind of beauty... all in the preference my friends

Good topic!
I like aspects of my style - I like athletic and fast play - play that demonstrates strength and skill - and I think sometimes my game looks like that. Othertimes I find myself over planting, looking awkward, not holding sets for long enough, slurring or theing moves, crouching over too much and not setting straight.
I think good style is upright, clean and crisp and always looks like the player is in complete control of the bag. People often talk about "smoothness" but I tend to think that if you are able to play like I mentioned at the start of this paragraph your game will look smooth and solid. I tend to think that lack of smoothness is often because you are not in complete control of the bag. I can hit ps whirl from a bad set, but it still looks bad - if I hit it with a good set it looks much better.
I think you can definitly improve your style - the important thing is to work on hitting moves until they feel very comfortable - if you can do this than I think you'll have good style. If it still feels like a bit of a struggle or parts of the move don't feel natural, then it needs more work.

i really dont like my style... tho some ppl have said i am smooth, i honestly dont see how... i think my clippers give me shit style, because i have to *try* and compensate for them by exaggerating shit and bending my knees more, it really sucks... i havent seen much of myself lately but stuff from a few months ago was pretty poor indeed. i really hope it gets better, but i cant see how it will unless my ankles are suddenly flexible one morning
i think my style on toe moves could be ok... atomic and pixie moves feel pretty cool.. stepping i think i bend too much but thats just clipper compensation i think
overall my style sucks... i dont think its getting much better but we will see

I like my style, but there are definatly significant changes that are going to happen really soon, mostly because i'm drilling stepping a lot and flip pixies. So a lot of my butterflys, paradox mirages, will be replaced by ripwalk and blur, and my flipside pixie will be much more evident than it is.
Other than that, i'm fine with my style, except for its a bit boring to do the same things over and over again.

Last question first. 2 things make up style for me, move selection and move execution.Posi-Cole wrote: I think another good subtopic for this thread would be, what makes good style? What can someone work on to improve their style? What in a players runs do you think of as 'style'?
First question. What I like, at first, is a long catch of the bag and dexes that look as slow as possible. I like fast moves, but a blurriest done slow looks cooler than a rushed one. I do however find the more I watch of someone the more I find the "niceities" of someones style, but watching lon or pete takes no coaching.
Improving style???? Be consciencious of style and play all the time. Compare video of yourself with the pros.
I'm slowly beginning to like my style, as I'm just developing one. You
can't talk about style unless you have the foundation down, i.e. all the
basics. My foundation is slowly becoming more solid now, and I think
that every move looks less awkward the more it is dialed.
My butterflies look strange sometimes tho.
