At first I was like: `I hope this entire video is skate footage.`

Then I was like: `hey, this shredita has real good foundations and looks really promising`

Then, I saw the Jane stuff: `man, it REALLY sucks that Jane wasn`t at worlds. This pisses me off`

Finally, I thought: `I should really go rent `Empire Strikes Back` again. That was a real fine motion picture.`

Thanks Jane.

PS- how long has Kimi been playing?

Wow nice video! Was that Kimi or you, Jane, on the board?

Kimi has a really solid foundation, very smoothed out already. How
long has she been playing?

And Jane, nice run with all the long delays - very stylish.

Thanks for that!

So, I'm not sure exactly, but I think Kimi has been kicking about a year and a half (more or less). Miles, Justin, Sam, Scott...any Seattlites on the forum that know for sure?

Yeah, she's started linking not long ago and is solid tiltless. I didn't catch it on film, but it's not uncomon for her to throw in dimwalk, parkwalk and smear in her strings. She's skooling whirling/drifting/stepping motions now, but it's cool to see a new girl that's toe oriented more than clippers...she definitely didn't get that from me ;-) I'm gonna start looking like Scott Davidson here shortly if I don't start doing more toe tricks. ;-)

Kimi is hardcore...after several hours of one-on-one shredding I finally had to give up trying to keep up with her and take a break. Even then, she still kept skooling solo...after like 4 hours!!!! Insane! She's obsessed. She has a good two-sided foundation of basic 1's and 2's...can link some butterflies and throw in occassional 4's (pixie set 4s mostly). She'll be raging if she keeps it up. She's quick.

Also, thanks for the props @me, though it wasn't my best... just bread and butter stuff. I have a vid in progress that highlights my current play...I'll let you know when it's finished. The freeze stuff is fun -- I've been messing around with that a lot lately.

oh yeah, that's me on the skate board (falling). The girl that could actually pull some stuff off was just one of the skaters that showed up and was warming up. it was an awesome event. They had sponsors kick down helmets, pads and boards for people to check out and use. The footage in the vid doesn't do this event justice. I only captured skate stuff early on the 1st day when people were just warming up.
On the second day, the place was packed. There were workshops for novice/intermediate/advanced, live hip hop bands from Olympia and Portland, street and ramp competition, demos...the advanced players rocked, but I didn't film that, sorry :-(

In addition to the basic skill/technique workshops, they had workshops on how to film skateboarders and another workshop on how to edit the film. it was set up so that they had extra cameras for the workshop that people used to film...then they actually edited that footage in the second workshop. also a cool workshop was "how to run an event" I thought these 3 would all be good ideas for footbag to have. At SJFF, we always run workshops throughout the event...it's really a great thing!

Kimi's been playing for about a year and two or three months, I think.

Solid stuff! Why aren't you dead, though, Jane? I thought Kimi didn't like being filmed. :P Looks like a cool event, wish I could have made it, though I don't know if I would have been allowed there or anything.

Hey Sam it was way cool, you should have come! I hope Kimi doesn't kill me either ;-) She was kicking well and let me tape with no objections...her friend Claire even filmed part of it. Guess you guys just don't have the magic touch! ;-)

Maybe she just doesn't like us... :(

Also, not to take this off topic or anything, but what days are you and Carol kicking at Bumbershoot?

Wowee, that is some really good female shred going on, she's got lots of control and looks like she has all of her basics on both sides. Jane, your shred looks very sharp as it always does, I know there wasn't anything huge, but all your strings were oh so sweet. I can't wait till you get a vid of your top stuff, get some of Kimi in there if she doesn't mind !

yeah! kimi's where it's at. (so are jane and edie brickell, but we all knew that already.) i'm glad that kimi let you tape her, she's looking so smooth.

the first time we all met kimi was at folklife in seattle in may of 2003, and as far as i remember she had been playing for a little while before that (since she was there in a pair of ct300's), so it seems like sam's estimate is pretty good.

thanks for the great video.

Good stuff, thanks for the vid. Looking forward to seeing your next footage, Jane. Those blenders and torques were so nice and tidy.

Nice job on the video and the shred.

Did you edit, Jane? You failed to put credit to the film, if you did.

But props. You've both got a very fluid and gracefull style.

Solid. It's cool to see such a good foundation game like that.

Also, the delay freezes in that one string were impressive. I try to do that time to time, and cannot do it with most clipper tricks that aren't butterfly.

Reminded me of Vandall's PS Whirl > Reverse Stepover.

Props to the both of you.

She was holding back

Post by Omen »

Yeah, Kimi has awesomly schooled foundation moves and a nifty quck and clean style. I like it, I really believe she is going to blow up into a pro.

However, something about that video bothered me. After all the sessions with her in Seattle, seeing her at least once or twice a week, I had never seen her kick that well. SHE MUST HAVE BEEN HOLDING BACK! *Scoff*, the NERVE of her.

I heard about her moving down to the Olympia crew though, I am sad. Hope to hit an Olympia session up somtime soon though!
