This is an interesting view to say the least. I really wish that history was a compulsorary subject in all countries. There are a number of problems with your arguement.420FootBager wrote:no bush makles us look like pussies.... we should destroy anybody that fucks with us then rebuild um and make um apologize for makeing us angry.....
We are the most powerful nation in the world why do we consistently take shit from everyone. Those terrorist should have been way to scared to attack us....
I'm not saying that we be bullys and try to conquer the world but if we tell someone to stop making weapons or let us search for weapons and they refuse..... lets kill the muthas....
The government sure as hell wouldn't have a problem with breaking in my door and killing my family if I did something as minor as growing pot, but N. Korea can threaten us and build Nuclear weapons? WTF is that?
Firstly the US has a trade deficiet - that means that you import more products items etc. than you export. Some of these things - like oil for example are not products that you can meet demand for internally.
Secondly while the US is clearly the most powerful country in the world, it is no where near being more powerful than the combined power of the rest of the world. The rest of the world relies on stuff like oil too - and some of the countries also produce oil - so it's good for the US not to piss off the rest of the world
Now I get onto the point about history. After the first world war the allies forced Germany to apoligise for the war and to repay the damage caused. These days most historians will say that the leading cause of world war 2 was the treaty of Versailles and World War 1. Now the main reason for this was because after world war 1 the Allies were both confident that they were the most powerful nations in the world and could treat the losing countries however they wanted.
This is why many diplomats from the rest of the world are critical of the US at the moment - because they are treating parts of the world with the same kind of arrogance and disrespect that lead to the second world war and we are also seeing a rise in the hardcore right - opposed to the the US - just as we saw with the rise of the Nazi's after world war 1. By oppressing people it is easy for groups like Al Quieda to gain support of people who don't like their children getting blown up by unexploded cluster bombs or dieing of cancer before they reach pubity.
So by attacking countries like Afghanistan and Iraq - both of which have a large population of non terrorist fighters - you are turning those possible allies against you - creating more terrorists.
The problem with telling people they can't make weapons etc. is that you (the US) have more weapons of a greater power than almost all the nations in the world. You were the leaders in the development of biological and germ warfare until you realised that it gave smaller nations the ability to fight you on a more even playing field (since it only takes one killer germ to kill all of the US, or all of Cuba - possibly both) - you were and still are the leaders in the field of nuclear weapons. So many countries think that in the same way that the laws of their (and most countries) apply to everybody, international law should apply to everyone too - so if you think that Iraq shouldn't have weapons of mass destruction - neither should you.
I know it's hard for some Americans to understand but the rest of the world does not think that you are the good guys of the world and can be trusted - infact many nations of the world look at your history as the only nation to use nuclear weapons in warfare and at what you've achieved in Israel, Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Haiti, Colombia, Chile, Mexico and a number of other countries and think that you can't be trusted at all. No other nation in the world apart from Australia acts like they are the policemen of the world and many countries resent that. If you behave in the manner you would like the rest of the world to behave in, I think you would get a much better responce from the world.
North Korea is a good example. You say that you should threaten to kill them if they don't do what you say, but then complain that they are threatening you if you interfere with their buisness. Doesn't that sound to you to be a tad hypocritical on your behalf? If North Korea did not feel threatened they would not build nuclear weapons.
Sorry for the size of this post - please note that I am talking about US foreign policy - this is the policy that the representatives of the people of the United States of America follow - In a democracy one would hope that the people agree with those policies but I'm sure we all know that that's not the case.
