Thats another thing too. Graphics are not the most important, but with a game like this they are kind of nescessary. We have to be able to show the animation of a footbagger, and even in 2 1/2 to 3 Dimensions that would be hard.
That is why I suggested Cell Shading. Animation is easy and vector based, smooth and fluent, easy to program compared to mesh and wireframe rendering, requires little texturing and graphics processing...
Its still gonna be imensely hard.

i think a cool concept for a footbag videogame would be just frames.
if anyone plays tekken, you know all about JF's.
they are button combinations that have to be executed with PERFECT timing. i think this could be used in the game for maybe like fearless or beast combos. if PS whirl was down/forward+A+B or something, to do consecutive PS whirls there would only be one frame where that button combo could be entered (say...when the bag hits the characters foot). this combined with moves varying in bag height (so you cant keep a rhythm) could be VERY challenging (all unique fearless).
if anyone has tekken tag or tekken 4 for PS2, and wants to see just how challenging a just frame is, go to practice mode with Lee chaolan, and try-
back+X,X:O
the ":" means just frame timing, so you have to hit O on the frame when his foot hits, otherwise the move dosnt work

I'd love a MMOFPG (massively multiplayer online footbag playing game)
Like a real mmorpg, but instead of killing stuff you can go to places in a virtual city and shred with people or play net in the park or maybe some four square. But that would be a huge think to make. And you'd need servers and staff and alot of money. Ahh well, a man can dream.

im impressed at the idea. but the pictures you have shown are not very impressive to me.
they are just normal pictures that you modified. and they look kind of....odd
those pictures are pretty much photoshopped to look cell shaded.

The pictures arent to impress you Henry, sorry if you got the wrong idea there. They are meant to look cell shaded, cause we talked about cell shading. We got off the topic of graphics awhile back, try reading the forum and see what you have missed instead of just looking at the pictures next time.HenryG wrote:im impressed at the idea. but the pictures you have shown are not very impressive to me.

My post was about gameplay and how it would work, not about how pretty I could make it. That comes later.

Someone could always modify a MUD. That would probably be the easiest method mentioned here.ville wrote:I'd love a MMOFPG (massively multiplayer online footbag playing game)

Agreed, I'm saving any sort of excitement until some really big steps are made to show that the game is actually more than just a pipe dream.
All sounds and looks cool though
