I like Jeremy's idea. It makes alot of sense. Nate watches gymnastics. Unlike that.

imo footbag is going to that direction Jeremy. We did see three dropless routines in finals. The drops from semifinals to finals were decreased alot. What I see that will happen in the future is the following. Vasek or somebody else will reach the limits of human body in footbag freestyle tricks. After all the tricks have been hit, some players don't have to concentrate on inventing new tricks - they only concentrate on the certainty they can hit those tricks. I see more and more new sick people coming up and I don't see it stopping. Footbag is so new that a talented kid can come and play himself to the top in a year if he's hard-working enough. So I see that the competition will move to a direction, where people don't have drops, but they'll still hit alot sick tricks. We already have a couple of people in the world that can do that. My guess is that we will have alot more people that will hit the sickest tricks invented with no drops in routines. I even see fully dropless finals in the future - not so near though :)

This is just speculation, anything could happen, but now it seems like this is the most likely thing to happen if you consider the facts. A judging system that only counts drops would slow down the progress. The top is already making dropless routines and the rest will follow - in time.

Just found this article about judging at womens gymnastics at olympics and there's a nice quote by the runner up and 3 time olympic medalist:
These competitions have shown the sport needs a lot of changes," she said. "It should be judged primarily on grace, elegance and beauty rather than simply on mechanical tumbling."
There seem to be a lot of judging issues in olympic sports too:)

I think there are an infinite number of tricks and there will always be new tricks being invented.

just my opinion

Wow, could this spoiled diva whine a little bit more? Someone should slap her in the mouth. She's a three time loser and blames everyone but herself. And then she can't even give a little respect to girl that beat her. Ha, enjoy your rice cakes, b***h.

on a more serious note I was watching the Olympics today after work, and they also seem to run into the same problems we ran into at this worlds:
- [what seems like] unfair grading of certain participants.
- first player in a pool starting with less of an advantage than the later players
- pbs about rating difficulty

for reference this was all with Women's and men's gymnastic events (beam , parallel bars and so on). I think that the american that was in finals for the parallel bar finals event was hammered by the judges because the former judges passed him in the semis when there was clearly an error of his they didn't take into account... anyway, maybe it does happen on all levels when judging artistic/technical events.

I agree. There's no way to please all the people all the time. Especialy when there are so many talented freestylers that are talented in DIFFERENT ways. And everyone has something that impresses them alot but others not so much.
Lucky for us worlds is every year and not every 4 years, and also there are tons of other kick ass comps all year round.
Unlike gymnastics competition is only a very small part of the footbag expierience. SO even when some people think some peopel got judged inaccurately thats only like 1/80th of the reason someone goes to worlds anyway. SO even us poor folk who got near last place can still have an awsome time!

I totally disagree...I read the article and now I really disagree...I have been following the Olympics closely every day and have watched all of the gymnastics, and I thought this girl did not perform as well as Carly. Carly kicked her ass on floor in technical difficulty (by far!) and in presentation/art(the final event that determined the all-around women's medalists).

In my opinion, this Russian gymnist looked tired and shaky in most of her events...especially towards the end. her floor lacked a lot of difficult tricks and jumps. her landings were terrible and unstable. she does not smile much. not to mention she looks emaciated...to me her weight looked like a factor as to why she couldn't stick her landings at all...very wobbly and also why she was leaning a lot on the uneven bars and losing balance on some of the simpler dance moves on the beam.

If you want to talk about who got screwed, look at yesterday's russian high bar routine (the audiences coarsed the technical president to re-evaluate and correct his score), and at the canadian who stuck all of his vaults (which no one else did) and only came out with a 4th place. I did think the US all-around men's gold medalist redeemed himself lastnight when the korean that claims he was robbed of the gold medal botched his high bar routine and was clearly defeated in that event by the american. that makes me feel better about the american taking to gold in all-around...even if it was controversial to begin with.

I find satisfaction in learning that all of these established sports have defunct judging system like our own :-) we're not alone...ahhhhhhhhh
I like how the equestrian sports can go back and correct judging results to be more accurate at any time...even well after the awards ceremony. in fact, the american bronze medalist was on the plane flying home before she found out she had actually medaled. she stopped in London and they interviewed her there.

2.) Former World Championship judges
We actually had a few in the finals this year. I can't remember all of the judges, but Kenny Schultz and Eric Wolff come to my mind right away. There might have been others as well.
