Bag Test

Post by HG »

Well i have just gotten a new abshire. and i noticed that when i squeeze the fabric together where there is no filler, it just puffs back out. but when i do the same with my halfway broken in abshire, the fabric sticks together.

i want to know if the fabric sticking together on my older bag is normal... because its not really breaking in that well, and the first couple weeks i had it, i washed it a bunch because i thought it would break it in.

has all of that washing ruined my bag? (i washed it once a day no matter how much i played for like, 2 weeks)

and

is the fabric sticking together when i squeeze it normal?

Sounds to me like your new bag is not broken in, and your old one is. The "sticking together" is not a problem, that is what happens when a bag is broken in. If it didn't collapse like that, it wouldn't collapse on your foot.

Also, don't worry about your new Abshire and how it breaks in. In my experience, Abshires take awhile to break in.

Richie says to wash it after every dirty session, so once a day doesn't seem too much.

too much washing is not good for the bag, I wouldn't wash it more often
than every 2 weeks or so.

the break-in time really depends on the color combinations you have.
some colors are of thicker fabric, some are thinner.

Max's (sNale) Abshire for instance is black/red, and took over
1 1/2 months to be fully broken in. Be patient. As for the fabric sticking,
I've got no clue about that.

Yeah, my abshire is pretty old and it STILL isn't broken it yet fully. Ugh.

I suggest washing your bag after every session where the bag is coated with dirt sweat and whatever else it can pick up on the ground. If it takes a few sessions to get your bag dirty, then only wash it when its dirty. Don't wash it for the heck of it. Panels sticking together is a sign the bag is broken in and ready to play. Hope this helps, Richie

The panels on my Abshire also stick together if they are squeezed. Thats nothing to worry about.
After 2 months of breaking in the bag now really is my dream bag! Just keep playing with the bag Henry. It will become great

Max is right. Just keep playing with it. Maybe spend one session on just the timing of the bag the way it is and that way you will be able to tell how the progress is going. Spend a session on clippers. Hope this helps,Richie

Props. My big still rolls a bit, like yours does, but it's playable. Hopefully it will become real nice. Good luck with your bag and keep up the good work.
