People are protesting
Women's Issues
Gay Rights
Enron/National energy policy
Media Consolidation
Media not doing their job
The unemployment situation
Cheney::Haliburton
Patriot act
Loss of Civil RIghts
the war on iraq
The use of executive orders to by pass the legislature
The marginilization of the world opinion
The tarnishing of America's image by backing out of treaties
the tarnishing of america's image by endorsing men who promote torture
the list goes on, but in the republican world everything has to fit in a soundbite . . . so in a nutshell

Hundreds of thousands protest policies of worst administration in US history.

Without the war, Bush wouldn't stand a chance of being re-elected. He has no record to stand on, and no successes to speak of. So in a way, without the war, maybe the protesters would be less . . . but they also wouldn't be needed as much because Bush would be gone, just like his daddy.

As an example of how fucked bush's policy is . . . the RNC has security unlike anything ever on american soil. It's martial law for all intents and purposes. So far 6 protesters from San Francisco (one tiny little american city) have infiltrated the meeting and caused small disturbances. His policy of revoking freedom for safety is bunk. His convention was still penetrated by the enemy, therefore the participants traded their freedom for an illusion of safety. He is doing the same thing on a national scale, and the people who follow this policy are anti-Patriotic, anti-Freedom, anti-USA.

During the DNC the media was not distracted from the Demoncats...

I thinks it's only right that they give the same unbroken coverage to the RNC.....

Fuck the protesters I don't care what they think all they have to do is mention that they are there they are just gonna be a big pissed of mob yelling the same shit as anybody would expect I don't think they need much coverage. I wouldn't care if they didn't telivise the anti-Kerry protesters either they are really un-important. there opinon can be heard on election day as afar as I'm conserned.

By the way I do belive in the right to protest. They have all the right to waste there time in NYC, I just think that they don't need anything more then a mention which they have gotten.

So WITHOUT hearing the protesters you KNOW what they are saying.
While they might be pushing 1984 as a manual to run the world . . .
Ignorance is not strength, war is not peace, slavery is not freedom.
mention that they are there they are just

You nit picky jackass, like you never forgot a comma in your life. I have far better grammer then most that frequent this site, but since you disagree with me you take a gramatical gut shot...... WEAK

The point is it does not matter to me what the protesters think.... Most of the anti-bush arguments have been voiced, I disagree with most (not all) of them. The Republican coverage should not be intrupted or lessened because of the protesters.

The Message of the Demoncats was not bothered by any protests or any other news. Do you really think it is fair to take time away from the message of the republicans to give voice to the protesters? Seems like a double standerd to me.

Why do they not give coverage to the mob of pro-bush people inside Madison square garden. Would you assume you know what they are sayin without listning?

I belive we should do away with conventions anyway. We really do not need them in the modern world.

Sorry about the pot shot on your grammer[sic].

Why should we suspend free speech, and coverage of news worthy events because a group is holding a propagandathon ? I think the media should cover the news.

If hundreds of thousands of people protesting something isn't news worthy, the media has failed us. The American people have a right to make an informed decision about who is the leader. It's a sham when the only view presented on television is the view from either of two sides of a government. Information wants to be free, they should be broadcasting every view they can get on the issues.

If the voice of the people can not be heard over the voice of the government, the republic is dead !

It doesn't means if the protest get covered, RNC won't. And would it be THAT bad if the coverge got lessened? The DNC didn't have near as the same coverge the GOP has and they lived. I think the protest are more imp. then the republican.

Not top say that they RNC isn't important.

I've not been following it, so I can't add fuel to this. But I'll try my damnedest anyways!

Sure, the protestersare big. But relative to why they are there, they don't matter (as much.). It's good they they believe in something, but they don't need the media coverage. They only need a voice and someone to listen to them on the streets. Word will get around.

As for the security, There is no way it could be perfect. However, if it wasn't so tight, some crazy liberal or democrat (notice the distinction), or maybe even a pissed off middle class worker (because of the new overtime laws that went into effect.) would go in and go postal.

While we're on to topic of stuff like that, why don't we get some better explinations on that new overtime BS. If you make under $26000 or so a year, it's guarenteed. If over $100,000 or so (I forgot the actual number), there is none... What about the middle ground:?:

What about the middle ground:?:
Only to chime in on this spin off (I don't want any flame wars with Allan or Cameron about this threads topic issue).

What about firemen and police? They receive overtime even if their standard salary is over 100k. Here in San Diego the mean salary for law enforcement is 80k, while there are plenty that make closer to 120k. I am not saying they don't deserve it cause they do.

Spinning in a similar direction, I was sent an interesting email pertaining to the Senate and Congress. It seems that there is no Social Security for these guys. Instead they passed a law giving them salary for life after their term is up. How much do you think this costs them? If you said ZERO you get a gold star. That's right, Senators and Congressmen pay nothing for Social Security, they get to keep it all. And who you think pays the bills? Right again, you and me. So if you think voting them out, gets them out, you are wrong.

Just thought I'd throw an actual topic of discussion into this discussion.

The topic is corporate media and its interest in making sure that dissenting opions are ignored.

If you want to discuss overtime laws or anything other than that, please go start another thread somewhere and keep your flame-bait nose out of this one. Please.

You mean minor opinions. Minor meaning less than the millions of people that live in the United States that voted for the current corporate media and its interests.
...keep your flame-bait nose out of this one. Please.
Name calling will only get you sent to the time out chair.

I love how you think that because it didn't make headlines that somehow corporate American media had something to do with it. And by corporate you mean republicans and their interests. How about the fact that a bunch of yahoos holding signs and chanting crap is NOT a news worthy event. Your opinion is just that.

I also love how you praise yourself for being political  . You don't even get a vote, so thus reinforcing the fact, that you are an outsider looking in on the issue. While I am an American citizen, living here, paying taxes, voting, and still could care less if a 1000 people are pissed off enough to walk up and down the streets of NYC chanting. I am a republican, and the more you try to bring me down, the more enraged my political opinions will become. You are trying to spread your own propaganda by trying to tear down American Media.

Why don't you just join the damn Taliban and get on with it. I am an American and very proud of what the RNC is about and excited to see your buddy and fellow protester John Kerry eat it on election day.

No. He means the opinions of the majority of this country who did not vote for Bush, and who do not agree with his administration. People who like Bush are in the minority of this country.

Minor opinions would be the ones the RNC had on display when they showed both black members, the chinese couple, the korean lady, and the mexican family while the foreigner speaking made girlie men out of the millions of people who lost their jobs under Bush's watch.

He means the opinions of the majority of this country who did not vote for Bush
Which would also be the losing majority or the minority of electoral votes,

THAT LOST THE ELECTION!!!

So voice away proud Mary, keep that flag burnin', and roll your ass on down the river. You can take all the Welfare recepients, baby killers, left wing liberals, and minority opinions which cha!!!

Hooya!!! Go US marine Corp, Army, Navy, Airforce and National Guard. Keep up the good work and bring our boys home safe.

Yeah there sure is strength in numbers, lets see 12% black, 14% mexican, and 4% other, + or - 20% left wing nut jobs, stir occasional, add a dash of handouts, sprinkle in some tax increases, cram big government into the pot, bring to a boil, let protest, and walla, you got a nice big bowl of democrat stew.

Life is like a box a chocolates Cameron, you never know what you're gonna get. Too bad, the unemployed workers out in the streets didn't take the extra effort afford them (for free) in public schools to earn a scholarship, or at least show up to class before dropping out to fall victim to GW BUSH and his a ttempt to ruin the economy by bringing the towers down. Whether you want to believe it or not, the economy fell just 4 days after 9/11. No president Democrat or Republican could have done anything to save it. So all your whining and bickering falls on the death ears of those willing to tighten their belts and look for other opportunities instead of living blinding in their minds that the United States can turn back into pre-9/11. Times have changed, get on the boat or drown, the sharks in the water have no mercy, just like the terrorists, so when you fall don't say their wasn't a hand out to lift your sorry ass into the boat.

Um... correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't less than 50% of the population vote in the election? And wasn't it really close? So that would mean that around 25% or less actually voted for Bush... Hmm when you can be elected with less than 1 in 4 people voting for you know what a great democracy you are living in :?

I find it amusing that Democrats hate attack ads on there Candidate but continue to attack Bush. You Democrats never change, now I am trying to make points and you all are tearing my grammar apart. As previously stated WEAK....

Any way, the thousand or so protesters that have been showing up in NYC for the RNC do not necessarily represent the voice of the majority. How could anyone possibly know that until Election Day? If you watch the news you would see that the candidates are in a dead heat with president Bush predicted to pull ahead a little because of the RNC… The fact is that there were protesters at the DNC too but they got far less coverage than the Democrats are now….

You Democrats only want to see what you like and say “fuck you” to the rest of the nation… that is not right… I want to see the RNC not the protesters, and so do MILLIONS of other Americans. I’ll bet you all would have bitched and complained if the media covered the protesters during the DNC and not the DNC it’s self.

By the way I do not really like Bush I would vote 3rd party. Anybody but Kerry....LOL

And Jeremy.... Who are you to say that the other 50% made up of non-voters didn't want Bush to win? We can't force everybody to vote, this is a democracy and our system works out pretty well. After all, we are the most powerful nation in the world...

Get out there and vote this time people. While pointing out that only 50% voted is not a good argument to say Bush is a bad president, it does make the american people look pretty stupid. Get involved.
