ducking pdx mirage or plain old ducking mirage?

Post by pips »

I was thinking about what I've been hitting today and wondering if clipper set ducking mirage was paradox. Is it? Or are my hopes up too far? :? Either way, hey, I am ducking!

If you do a set and dex with the same foot, it's paradox. If you don't plant after set, it's super clean paradox :P. I like that!

Ah I was thinking about this last week and decided I do not think its paradox with the plant and procedded to try them all no planting from now on. It feels way differt and a normal p mirage is done non planting for like 99 % of players so I think to get this add with ducking p mirage you should not plant. But if u spin or do sympoisum its ok :p

Jon, some time ago I planted my Paradox Mirages and Ducking Paradox Mirages. Now I do these moves without plant and I can say that they look cooler and they're much harder without plant, especially Ducking version.

Yeah. It's cool doing Paradox tricks without plant. It's good feeling.

Ps. I think that if the next commponent after set is a dex then plant make paradox unclean. But if between Set, and Paradox Dexterity is some another component like ducking, blurry set or something then you can easliy plant setting foot. Do you know what I mean? Chris P. wrote somethin' about that some time ago.

omg I hate this arguement - it's worse than the x dex debate!!

At the world championship level in a shred 30 if you plant on a pdx mirage you still get 3 adds for it. If you obviously "the" a paradon dex you do not get 4 adds for the move.

Planting on a pdx move makes the move harder because you have less time to do the move. It also makes the move easier because you can balance better - for some people this is an issue - for others with good balance it is not. Planting on a pdx mirage usually makes the move not look as good - just as stooping really low and waving your arms around like a drowning person does not make moves look good. I can't see what it has got to do with how clean the move is.

this is 95% off topic, but I don't want to start a new topic just to ask this. And we are talking about Paradox Mirages:

Would Paradox Slapping Legover (Paradox Miraging ss Legover) get Paradox?
There is a same side component, but still a Paradox Mirage dex and plant between the dexes...

It's so hard to say with quasi, since it's still such a rare set. I think, in my opinion almost anything quasi should get paradox, just because it is more paradox than paradox mirage in just the set. Nuclear same legover would not get paradox, but quasi same legover is clearly a paradox motion ESPECIALLY with a plant (because you have to do a complete paradox mirage including the plant before you even start the legover).

In my opinion ducking moves are not paradox with a plant -- you completely lose the feel once it goes over your neck, but without a plant it's almost more paradox than without a duck. Especially with moves like vertigo and tomahawk.

ok I can hit paradox mirage I think, but I am starting to get confused about pdx now... for one thing I can not see why in the world you would ever plant on a paradox mirage, it seems so much harder, just to get things straight for me praradox mirage is this right....

Clipper set > same dex > toe del

Paradox is confusing, which is why there are so many debates on what paradox is, and what paradox should be. You'll get the hang of it eventually. Paradox is based off of one theory (clip > same out/in > op side), not a bunch of little ones. SOOO...just learn the way paradox is now and forever forget the debates:)

Ducking pdx mirage is a weird thing. Generally, a pdx move is believed to involve rotation of the hips at some point (the reasoning goes like: twist-> harder move->extra BODY add).
Yet REGULAR ducking mirage (CLIP>duck [BOD]>op in [DEX]>op toe [DEL]) would need more rotation to do the dex than ducking pdx mirage :? But no extra add.
I guess theory is inadequate in some cases...

Yep. Ok. I'm just gonna stick with clipper set ducking mirage to avoid controversy. :?:
