hmm. Well probably the biggest problem with this forum according to the recent modified feedback survey was usage of gramma - and I noticed that the main people to complain were people who did not speak english as a first language (although a large number of people who did speak english as a first language also complained) - I don't know what we can do about it except point out mistakes to the people who constantly make posts that might be hard to follow for some people.
The main point of any language is to be able to communicate with other people.

If you think the last election was stolen, you MAY be right.
If Gore won, it would be because he stole it.
Gore sent his lawyers down from New York to try to steal it, and they failed.
Bush's lawyers were better thieves than Gore's lawyers.
The Florida Supreme Court may have allowed the recounts to continue indefinitely, or until there was a count where Gore won.
Allowing the Flori-duh Supreme Court to decide the election would have been a larger travesty.
It was so close that the election was there to be stolen.
Let's not forget that the Democrats are entrenched in the local political systems there. They ran the polling stations, they designed the ballots, yet they failed to steal the election.
Maybe stealing an election is the only way to win now. I guess we'll find out this November, with new, reliable(gag) electronic voting systems.

I so want to grab you out of Austalia Jeremy and hurl you into a trailer park for a week and let you ramble on to them about grammar.
I doubt you would get such a warm reception.
To answer MegaX - I believe had Gore won Florida we would not be having this discussion. It was that close and as HighDemon (damn we have some fucked up names, I just want to call him HD for shorter) said the Supreme Court had to rule. The problem has still not been fixed some 4 years later, so although we complain, it might be best to get off our lazy asses and actual fix the problem. There is already enough negativity in this election without bringing that issue back into the mess.

Don't we wish we could all "move on" from that last election?
It wont happen though.
Is Flori-duh is going to have electronic voting this time around?
Voting will become as easy as programming your VCR.
Florida final vote tally:
Bush 2%
Kerry 1%
12:00 (blinking) 97%

On two sets of forged documents, the story that won't be told on TV
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CBS aired a story that used forged documents for visual presentation of what everyone knew already about GWB nat'l gaurd record.
The press is all about linking the democrats with the documents and the story.
Just think about this for 23 seconds.
If the media had done their job, and put as much effort into investigating the forged documents of yellow cake purchases, their origins, who knew they were fake when the "evidence" was presented etc, we might not be in this war.

That made me laugh out loud... seriously, that was funnier than shit.
But yes, I would like to leave the past there and focus on present issues. But since noone in the politcal limelight is doing that, I suppose I hopped on the bandwagon. Although I'm trying to go forward and look at current issues, it just doesn't seem to work because there is always someone bitching about how Bush didn't do this or Kerry said that before. It's really enough to make one sick, now that I look at it...

Since Electronic voting was brought up, lets discuss Diebold.
1) There is a two digit code necessary to duplicate the vote tables and manipulate the election on Diebold manufactured voting software.
News Release
2) The GEMs voting tabulation software can be manipulated in a variety of ways using VB script.
Wired.com story
Given all the crap about Diebold over the last two years,
At what point does talk of programmer incompetence get thrown out the window, and it's replacement, " Malicous code intended to subvert democracy in America " brought in to take it's place ?
An election is only as fair as the person counting the votes . . . and there are two ways to manipulate the vote count. Democracy is on the line, and the news is concerned with what color shampoo Bush prefers on Wednesday.

I hear you there Cameron. Given all the possible ways an election could be done electronically and they pick a vunerable one.
This reminds me of that crazy guy that said "The gov. man, they got things going on you don't even know about. Like aliens and shit, man." Everyone laughed and called him a stoner.
But if you think about it for a second (not the aliens part), how good is it for future politicians to have a system that can be manipulated? Very!!!
Say politician X wants to win some election. He already has bribes coming in from special interests in the form of lobbing. Now he has another dirty deed to perform and he is in.
It is my Crazy Belief that coruption is the only way into the system, so it doesn't surprise me that the govt. would choose a system so vunerable to attack and manipulation. About as surprising as Dick Cheney giving contracts to a company he once ran. Shady indeed.

CBS decides not to address real issues with Bush presidency until after the election ???
The storyNEW YORK - September 28 - In an outrageous politicization of journalism, CBS announced it would not air a report on forged documents that the Bush administration used to sell the Iraq war until after the November 2 election (New York Times, 9/25/04). A network spokesperson issued a statement declaring, "We now believe it would be inappropriate to air the report so close to the presidential election."
