Heel Kicks?

Post by ToxicHippo »

Okay, I was Looking here http://www.stallingtricks.com/. I know most of the combos aren't real footbag standard, but what's with Heel kicks? Are they Standard, and not widely used? Or are they not standard, and should be forgotten?

In all the videos i've seen, The "Basic Kicks" are Inside, Outside, Toe. No heel.

What's the deal here?

that site is crazy! blur according to them is a pdx mirage/illusion, either one.

Isn't this site pretty much what old school "hacking" is? Not as much about dexs, spins, or adds, just about flow and creativity?

Um - I think that site is part of the Blouchie information network (BIN) - which is a great resource that all real footbaggers should spend the rest of their life memorising so that they too can become masters of the real sport and not just jump around doing boring stalls that completely wreck any flow that they could achieve.

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

First: Do not ever go to that site again. It's dangerous to this sport.

Second: Heel Stalls (and kicks) are unusual surfaces and not very widely used. But there is no reason why not to use them.

Yeah, I realize that site is pretty f-ed up as far as footbag is concerned, but it's fun to try all the lame-ass stalls they have.

13. Cold Fusion
Start by kicking it up a few times. Then kick it with the inside of your dominant foot so the bag goes straight up in the air. As it is falling down, squat down so that you catch it in your lap (make sure it is resting between your legs - if it's by your crotch your pants will get in the way). Then jump up and open your legs to let the bag fall and bring your non-dominant leg over your dominant one and then kick it with the inside of your dominant foot (sort of like a mini-butterfly). While you are squating it is best to keep your balance on your toes so that you can jump higher.
Whoa, Cold Fusion is such a cool move.

Wait a minute thats not Cold Fusion!

The heel of the Rod Laver shoe is really weak. When I played casually (pre-Laver days) I could do some neat things with my heels, and I even managed a few heel set and caught ATWs. I quickly abandoned the heel game when I got Lavers though, as the rounded and narrow heels are very difficult to work with.

Edit: I just recalled another thing that I did with my heels, that was actually really cool. I was pretty good at using my heel for some sort of backwards rake, catching the bag as it fell in front of me, and releasing either straight behind or in a cross body position.

They list that move on http://www.geocities.com/billman_c as a "Muludnep". Its a pendulum done behind ur foot (heel) rather than on ur toe. If you could do those on call, thats pretty cool...
