Last night I had a 2 hr session.

Most of it was me trying to hit flip blurry drifter>barfly, which I finally hit after about 100 attempts or more. This pleased me greatly.

Also, earlier in the session, I was able to hit pixie symposium whirl about 6 times, several of which were sealed. Crazy how it wasnt that hard yesterday but the last time I tried it I barely had the leg strength to jump for the symposium . . .

Other than that, it appears that I have lost my facile. I cant seem to find it anywhere among my things. That is sad. Oh well . . .

I drilled flip pdx eggbeater, hitting it like 5 in 30 times (pissed me off).
I drilled flip double downs by skoolin' downtime paradon and pixie paradon (hit like 1 flip pixie paradon in 33 attempts)
I skooled nuclear sets again, hit pdx legbeater on both sides.
I skooled blurry whirls after about 2 weeks of not working them too hard.

FINALLY, I HIT 3 CONSECUTIVE BLURRY WHIRLS!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH
Saturday, aug 7th, a date that will live in famy (the opposite of infamy)

felt so good, but was over so quick.

August 9th:
Today I planned on having two sessions, both of intermediate length however I didnt really expect my first to go for 2 hours. We'll see if another session is in the cards.
As for now, I hit a couple cool things and I'll share em.

First I hit flip barfly>flip blender, quite a combo for me since only a few days ago I could only hit flip blender from a clipper set.

Then I hit blurry whirl>(flip) symp whirl.

I hit one nicelong guiltless run but didnt count contacts. It was prolly somewhere in the low 20s, Alhough it had a lot of butterflies, it also had a flip blender in there mid-run.

For the last 40 minutes, while watching Arsenio Hall's "Start Search", I drilled flipside barraging set, really for the first time. I must have attempted at least 500 sets. At first it was really awkward and I couldnt get my leg to follow the proper path around the bag, but I just kept skooling it. Finally, I started to develop some comfort with the set and then began trying to hit janiwalker. I gave than at least 300 attempts. I hit 3! None was beautiful, all the sets were pretty low, but i did hit three janiwalkers from my flip side that were sealed either by handcatches or by controlled kicks. I ended the session after hitting my third.

flip janiwalker 8 times today! (in only about 20 min of practice, as opposed to the 1 hr of practice it took to hit 3 yesterday!)

I was able to hit sumo both sides.
I was able to hit sumo>atomic whirl.
I was able to hit atomic whirl both sides.
I was able to hit weak atomic whirl>ps mirage.
I was able to hit and seal a mobius! It felt soooo nice, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jeremy.

Tonight, I had a really cool session. My legs felt very fast- thats the best feeling. Anyway, I had a couple really nice shuffle runs and a few 18-20 contact strings. Also, for the first time EVER, I actually felt control over my flip blurriest, which I hit about 10 times over the course of the session including a link to a pdx whirl. I also hit bedwetter on both sides. Its one of those moves I dont dril but just try a few times near the end of my session to push myself. I was quite proud of hitting barfly>pdx whirl>pdx whirl>barfly. Also, 7 consec pdx whirls, blurry whirl>blurriest>dropped ps whirl, and I think thats about it.

had another shred tonight, about 1.2 hours. It was fun, I was already practically warmed up so I got to shreddin' fast. I hit barfly and pdx drifter bsos in the same run. I hit atomic drifter both sides in about 4 attempts only, and twice on the flip side as well!

Flip blurriest now comes about 1 in 4 tries, an improvement from 1 in 25 about a week ago. I attribute the improvement to skooling flip barflies for about 10 minutes each session for a week. Additionally, I hit flip blurriest>ps whirl on two occasions today, which is a new 5>5 link for me. Also I hit flip barfly>ripwalk, my first step from a flip barfly. I also hit blurriest>butterfly>infinity>blurriest on two occasions.

A good session

Post by Senor Grommet »

I had a really nice session tonight, my first since sunday i think?? Simply due to laziness (hurrumph). Anyway, here's what went down:

ripwalk>step clip>ripwalk>stepclip>ripwalk>sidewalk>ripwalk>sidewalk> ripwalk>blur>pixie butterfly>ripwalk>drop

I also hit 13 ripwalks in a row, my new record. My legs are getting faster on easy stepping moves from having tried to link blurry whirls forever.

Then, right at the end of the session I hit:
blurry whirl>blurriest>ps whirl>ps whirl. My second 4 contact fearless run ever, so I am pretty damn stoked about that as well!

Cheers

So Cal Labor Day Jam:

Well, my GF and I drove out to LA on friday morning at around 1145 am or so and we arrives at the house of Sam Colclough in the late evening, about 7.5 hours. Immediately he cooked some dinner and we ate a sweet veggetarian dish while watching a Star Trek movie. Chris Pinkus was supposed to come over that evening at about 8 but decided to wait until tomorrow instead. My GF and I sleep in the Tech Yes studio where his latest CD was cut (BTW, you all should pick it up- its pretty tight yo!).

The next day, we all wake up at about 10 am or so. We eat a sweet breakfast, which included soy milk, peanut butter pancakes, and banana pancakes, made from peanut butter cookies and fresh bananas. After that, we head out to see Hero, the new Jet Li movie. I think we all agreed that the movie was uber tight and super sweet too. If you are a fan of martial arts movies, this is definitely one to see. Amazingly, in the movie theater, while walking up to our seats, Sam walks over to some guy and starts talking to him. After tking a clser look, I see that Sam is not just talking to some guy but to STONEY MASTER from his movie Freestyle Fantasy! I said "hi" to him because, although we were villains in the same B movie, Id never met him. Lots of bold, sorry.
After the movie, we cruise the local shopping complex and get some food. I ordered a Kiwi Freeze with Boba- sooo good!

After, I call Chris Pinkus, who agrees to meet us all at Sam's house at about 4:15 for a shred session. We show up, change in to shred gear and the first epic session begins. The sredders included, Sam, Chris, myself, and Sam's GF Anne. Sam takes it easy because he knows that we have a morning shred planned that is to be televised! Chris and I play hardcore as always, pushing eachother to the limits, calling out hard combos for eachother etc. Chris busted huge as always, hitting crazy three and four move combos that I could only dream about, but I held my own. I hit about 8 new things in that session and I was really quite pleased with the way I played. I always feel like I plaiy better when I shred alone, but apart from that, I am most comfortable when Im shredding with the OOPS crew. Chris hit 6 unique 6 add moves in 10 tries (not consecutively)in a game we devised going back and forth, while I hit two. Right at the end of the session, I hit blurry whirling xbd rake, a new 6 add for me.

That session ends, and Chris leaves to celebrate a friend’s B-day party at the Red Lion. Amelia and I are invited, so in about 1 hour, after watching a bit more Star Trek, we make the short trip over to the pub. We get food and a bit of alcoholic beverage and we meet several of Chris’ friends, his brother, and father. It was a blast! The drive home sucked, as partly intoxicated, I struggled to find my way back to Sam’s house, which as the crow flies, was no more that 6 miles, but which took us 45 minutes because LA sucks a fat dick. At about 1145 we go to sleep to prep for the Telemundo jam, scheduled for 830 am the next morning.

Sam’s alarm woke us up, and the four of us got ready. I wasn’t feeling up to par, so I didn’t partake in any breakfast. As soon as “big ass chad” arrived at Sam’s we left with only a partial detour to look for Sam’s friend Jason, who was attempting to make it to Sam’s house by skateboard. He didn’t make it. Anyway, we four made it to the park, but there was no sign of Telemundo. Sam and Chad decided to check the other side of the park. While we were waiting, I kicked a bit with Amelia and Ann. The highlight of our hack was when we got a “hack” using only outside kicks. About an hour later, just as Sam and Chad arrived after giving up the search, a Telemundo van pulled into the parking lot. We started a new circle, a “pre-warm-up kick,” while explaining the sport to Mr. Telemundo and waiting for Sam’s friend Mike to arrive, who works for Telemundo and who was going to be interviewed. Finally Mike showed up, the camera was set up. Mike was interviewed while Chad, Sam, Ann, and I kicked in the background. After the interview, close up footage was shot. It was really cool- lots of unique angles, highlighting each of the players in the circle. Chad and Sam had some pretty long, easy guiltless strings, while I was attempting to bust pretty hard. I was able to hit ps whirl bsos for the Telemundo guy but because he cant tell a 2 from a 5, he may not end up using that footage. We finished precisely at 11am, just in time to go back to Sam’s, change, and head for the train station for the So Cal Jam in Claremont. Sam’s mom dropped off the five us (me, my GF, Sam, Sam’s GF, and Pinkus who drove to Sam’s at 11), minus Chad, off at Union Station. We bought tickets to Claremont and soon found that we had only four minutes to get to the train. Anne (Sam’s GF) lost her debit card in an ATM in an attempt to pay for her train ticket. We hauled a little ass to the train and eventually settled into seats on the second floor of the train. Sam and Ann made a new friend on the train, a crazy guy from Riverside who’s into dirt biking and smoking dope. He entertained us a bit, and Chris amazed our section by doing a Flail while the train was in motion. After an hour of riding, telling each other fun facts, and eating snack mix we arrived in Claremont. Mike, Ted, and Emily met our train and drove us back to the campus of Harvey Mudd College, the site of the jam. Dat, and Nate were at Mike’s dorm awaiting our arrival.

After greetings and introductions, everyone changed and started warming up.

First circle: Ted, Dat, Jeremy, Chris, Ann, Dave, and Mike
Highlights: We were all just warming up but Ted was busting large from the outset with tons of atomic stuff (7 consec atom smashers) and hella nuclear stuff. Everyone else basically sucked at that point.

Second Circle: Emily, Sam, Nate I have no idea what was goin on at that circle bc I wasn’t in it.

Later on the women kicked in their own circle: Amelia, Emily, Steph, and Ann. Emily gave Amelia pointers for a Mirage, which she nearly hit, and which made me very proud! There were almost as many girls at this jam as there were at Worlds this year, which was quite an amazing but sad site.

Sick one: Everyone participated in an informal Sick1 comp. Highlights included:
Pinkus hits: DUCKING PS EGGBEATER
Senor Grommet hits: BACKSIDE JONNY QUEST
Sam Colclough hits: HOPOVER REVERSE SWIRL, GYRO SYMP BUTTERFLY
Dave hits: BACKSIDE BLUR
Mike Hansen hits: SPINNING DIVING MIRAGE?

By an unofficial hand count, it is proclaimed that I am the winner with backside Jonny quest. Personally, I would have given the nod to Pinkus with ducking ps eggbeater, but whatever. This is my second Sick 1 victory.

Then a second round was completed but was not judged. I hit a torture rack which may have been the, or at least a bit thin, but nonetheless, was bomb ass, and I don’t remember what else was hit, sorry ;(

The group broke up into a four square game, and a small 3-person circle. Chris won the first four square game. Highlights from the circle:

Ted hits: RUBBERMAN 2!!!!!!!, Sumo>toe ripwalk>sumo>toe ripwalk!!!!!!!!!!!, plasma and fusion with apparent ease, sumo>fusion, pretty close to 69, janiwalkers both sides.

Senor Grommet busts: Janiwalker>blur! Janiwalker bsos, 3 consec ps whirls, ps whirl>ps whirl 2x in the same run, frenzy>run, DOUBLE BLENDER!!!!!!!!!!, mobius,

Mike Hansen joined the circle and was busting some nice spinning ducking and spinning diving tricks and got soooo close to his first vortex. I’m sure he’ll hit it within a week.

Dat was also busting bigger than I remember. He seems to have increased hie repertoire of tricks twofold and was attempting quite a few 5s. Although he didn’t hit one this weekend, he will soon do it. Trick worth mentioning are symp whirl on both sides, whirling swirl on one side, close to symp whirling swirl, mobius, pdx torque.

Ted, Dat, and I were the ironmen playing longer than anyone else. I played for about 3.5 hours without stopping, in three different circles. The last circles consisted of we three basically attempting to bust huge tricks and combos. I barely missed another genesis, and nearly nailed Irish Spring. No luck with either tho. I hit frenzy, Ted hit E walk several times, I hit whirling pdx mirage first try, while just missing symp whilring ss symp mirage. Also, I was close to whirling pdx drifter. I gave a few pretty good attempts at hitting blistering whirl and one at blistering vortex. No luck tho.

The jam ended when I nailed Superflyswatter (superfly rake) on my first and only try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got mad props.

This was one of my favorite jams ever! I hit so much new shiznit and everyone I met was amazingly cool. Also, this was my reunion with Nate (aka Dr. Ridiculous) who taught me to sew footbags more than 3 years ago, whom I hadn’t seen in about 3 years. That was great. Lastly, big ups to Emily, Eric Reile’s GF, whi just moved to Santa Cruz, CA, and appears to be a promising stitcher. Her second bag ever was like “whoa!” Look for her bags in the future.

Jeremy out.
