Look at this

A picture of a plant stem cross section I took at school. On the left is the epidermis, on the right is the pith, in the middle is the vasculature (water & nutrient transporting tissue).

I think it is absolutely beautiful. Almost makes me want to believe in grand design.

By stem i believe Ted means the central structure of a plant, from which the branches, well, 'branch' off it :P i imagine pretty much all (land plants at least) have similar structures, though i doubt they would all be identically arranged
it contains the Xylem and Phloem tubes which carry minerals, water and nutrient up and down the plant to the leaves and roots and such.

that is such an awesome picture Ted, did you take the photo using a microscope equipped with a camera? thats sweet

Yeah, its just a cross section of the main shoot from a Dubautia menziesii - one of the plants in my study group. All the cross sections are pretty impressive, this one just stained really well and captured some cool structures.
did you take the photo using a microscope equipped with a camera?
Yup.

I can't really see anything that catches my eye, maybe I'm not that artisitic enough to notice it.
