converting music to mp3

Hey does anybody know some good software for converting music to mp3 format? Especially wma and wav files. I can do it at the moment but only in real time recording - I'm looking for something that will do it for me without having to listen to all the music.

Hey Jeremy, i have free musicmatch jukebox. All you do is put the music on by way of CD, or any other way. And then you go and make a playlist that you wanna put on a cd, and there is a button that will let you burn the songs as MP3's.

this is only useful if you are talking about converting to MP3 cds.

Unfortuantly I don't want to do this so I can burn CDs - windows media player will burn things to cd in any of the formats I want to convert to mp3. I actually want to do it because I've been mixing some cds for shred that don't have pauses between tracks using some digital turntables but they won't play wma files. Also they save the recordings as wave files - which is ok for burning them onto cd but I want to keep them on my computer as well and they take up about 10mb per minute - 800mb for a cd sized recording - this gets reduced down when I record them to cd - so what I could do is burn them to a cd and then rip it off the cd back onto the computer but that seems like a pain. I also have a program that came with my sound card that basically records all the sounds coming from the computer at any time. So I can play the wma files I want and record them to mp3. But these are crap and time wasting methods - I want something fast.

With lame you don't need to burn it onto cd, it just converts wavs to mp3s, it's a pretty popular freeware program so it shouldn't be too hard to find, also in i-tunes if you right click on a sound file, such as a wav, theres a convert to mp3 option.

Thanks Spadrick! I see a pattern forming from what you've given me! (bookmarks download.com) - It's ok about having to pay for it - I'll keep the original dowload and every 30 files I'll uninstall and then reinstall it - too easy
