But yeah, I was just thinking about Cameron`s AppleBottom stuff, and I thought it was cool he was trying to get non-whities into footbag. I was real happy at Worlds to bring a posse of Japanese people, because frankly, I can count the non-white high level freestylers in North America and Europe pretty much on one hand:

1. Sunil
2. Yacine
3. Tu
4. Tuan
5. Me
6. Juan
7. Ali Darstrand

And shit, that required a lot of thought. Can you remember the last time somebody who wasn`t white got into BAP? February 2001, when Yax got in. Some food for thought.

PS: I just wanted to clarify that I don`t have 7 fingers on either hand.

There are several players in Texas that are not white.. . Well anyway.... they are quite good. One of them invented the "juantomic" set which is symp. dloing I think.

I crossed the ontario/quebec border a few weeks ago to play with Matt Laroque and when I got there he was shredding with three other french guys, one of them was definitely black and he was doing ripwalks and paradons! He doesn't really participate in the community at all though. I didnt get his name, well i did but i forgot what it was. Hopefully I'll be able to play with him again this weekend if Matt can drag him to ottawa.

What ethnicity is Ali Dastranj?

In Australia we have a few players of non-white background, including Dyalan (South African), Jon (Asian), Robin (i think, Indonesian or similar?), Ollie (Asian), Jesse (really not sure, he'd be best to answer that, last name sorta sounds Lebanese?), Jason (Asian)

thats all i can think of, hope these people dont mind me mentioning them. Its an interesting topic that i think has been discussed before. There are a few Asian players around, but none of African-American background that i know of.

Zeke Ibardaloza is Filipino, too.

Just to clarify: I am aware that there are non-white footbag players out there, but I think it`s notable how few of them make it to Worlds, and how few of them are featured on shred videos, and how few of them are in the top ranks of freestylers.

If it weren`t for Sunil, most Shred vids put out in the last 4 or 5 years would be completely white. Think about that. While there might be one black guy in Canada doing ripwalks, that`s not enough (imo). I really think we need to make more efforts to spread the sport amongst non-white people too (which is something I`m trying really hard to do right now in Japan).

And for the record: I really do not consider myself a member of the BAP, but I was just using BAP as an example of high level footbag. BAP currently has like what, 50 members in it? How many of them aren`t white? Tuan, Tu, Sunil and Yacine.

^^^itz cuz we got europe now but no countries besides japan w/o white people throw it down. We do got brazil and some otherz they just need growth. Therez tonz of other races in america but i guess itz alwayz been just about the white boyz here... I live in L.A. area and their is a ton of blacks and mexicans and shit but you dont see em shreddin. Only white folk... Im not talkin about some kickers cuz there has been other races in L.A. with lavers, but none of them went guiltless. I remember Delvon Lemont was black and had lavers and of course you had rasan. We also use to have this guy Ahren omatsu who was like the third asian to go guiltless back in 97. back then it was only Tuan and Tu who could go guiltless. Thats why L.A. barely has any shredderz even with 10 million people and perfect shred weather... We got this new asian kid named David lee whos asian... hes only 15 i hope he busts someday.

Here is a question. Why is there a shred vacuum in the two biggest cities in america??? THAT SUX!!!!!

Theres a black kid in my school, he's 15 and very athletic. He got lavers and is busting basics quickly.

About a month ago me and my buddy were just casually kicking at a bus stop, nothing crazy as I had jeans and skate shoes on, but these two mexican kids came up to us, they just arrived in Ottawa from mexico for school and they had quite the array of fancy hacky sack moves, I figured them perfect candidates for some footbag so I gave them my email and told them to contact me, they seemed so excited about learning the little bit I showed them but as of now still no word from them. I'm going to stake out the Ottawa U campus and try to find them again haha
