If I'm correct, the nissan/datsun 240's through 350's were representitive of the engine's displacement. the 350 has a 3.5 liter engine, 300 was 3.0, etc...
Anyways... my car in greater detail.
Engine: 4 cyl. 1.9 L DOHC inline 4
transmission: 4 speed auto.
horsepower : approx. 124 hp @ 5000? RPM
toque: approx 114 ft/lbs @ 2400? RPM
miles: 113,200 or so
fuel economy: 20 MPG (kinda crappy... Barely a mustang's MPG... Need to see what's up...)
Doors: 2
seats: 4
Tires: 195/95 (or something like that.) 16R I think.. I'd have to get back to you on that...
I don't think the torque is 114 @ 2400... It's actually kinda laggy at 2400 RPMs. I think all my torque hits around 3500 RPMs, then hauls all the way to redline. I wish I could find a way to get some low end torque...
But my dream car... RX-7 FC3S...
Or perhaps turn my dad's mustang into a drift car... that might be kinda cool...

O, is that what it means? Thats interesting! So when they come out with the nissan 3500Z, you'd better watch out (hehe, 35 liter engine...haha)If I'm correct, the nissan/datsun 240's through 350's were representitive of the engine's displacement. the 350 has a 3.5 liter engine, 300 was 3.0, etc...

Lots of car companies do this. The BMW 330 has a 3 liter. The 328 has a 2.8 etc. The Mercedes SL 55 has a 5.5 liter. The Honda S2000 originally had a 2.0 liter.MegaFighter_X wrote:If I'm correct, the nissan/datsun 240's through 350's were representitive of the engine's displacement. the 350 has a 3.5 liter engine, 300 was 3.0, etc...
Bigger displacement isn't always better. The 1968 Plymouth Road Runner was available a huge 7.0 liter V8 engine and made 425 horsepower. On the opposite side of the spectrum the Ferrari 360 Stradale has a 3.6 liter V8 that makes nearly as much with 420 horsepower. But the Ferrari also weighs 1200 pounds less (4000 vs 2800) so it's power-to-weight ratio is far better giving it much more acceleration. It's lighter weight also reduces the work the suspension and brakes have to do to get it around corners, which is where the real fun is anyway. I'm sure the Road Runner would feel like a boat.Shredster wrote: O, is that what it means? Thats interesting! You also have to remember the time back then. Muscle cars were the shit then. I would think that much displacement had some crazy ass torque numbers... Would you know?Dat wrote: Bigger displacement isn't always better. The 1968 Plymouth Road Runner was available a huge 7.0 liter V8 engine and made 425 horsepower. I never said bigger is better for displacement. I was just joking around when i said a 35 liter engine. First off, no one would do that for a passenger car, secondly, gas guzzler of the century:)Bigger displacement isn't always better. The Caterham Seven Superlight R500 only has a 1.8 liter engine, with 230 bhp, but it's power to weight ratio puts it at 3.4 seconds 0-60, and acceleration on par with ferraris, lamborghinis, vipers, and even the fabled Mclaren F1.
There's also a large community of folks who build caterham lookalikes (locosts) for dirt cheap (under 6000 US) and some of them throw huge V8s under the hoods, these beasties can chew up supercars costing 100 times as much like so many bugs on the windshield.
Power-to-weight ratio is the ONLY true measure of performance.
Give me an engine with wheels, and I'll show you a true sports car.

it'd be an FF, the 70's corolla is FR
speaking of displacement, thats not the only way of getting power, theres turbo's and supercharges, which can give awesome amount of power. There was a Nissan Skyline R33 GTR which was about 1025hp! Dont know if the power figure is from the flywheel or at the wheel but thats a huge amount of power from a 6 cylinder. It was like 2.8L or something like that, the engine was bored from the original GTR engine which is a 2.6 i think(rb26dett).

Yeah, skylines have beefy internals. I think I read they can get up to 600 horse before absoloutely needing to upgrade internals. The GT-R is a mean mother fucker. I definitely read that Skylines were outlawed from a lot of races because of their potential to sweep the field. But what's odd, in my opinion, is every time I see a skyline compete, something goes nuclear. Very odd...
But yes, turbos are a good thing, as are superchargers. For more horse, you could look at nitrous too. Superchargers are belt driven, so they have to be at a lower boost. Nitrous is good for one big boost. But turbos aren't belt driven, and will work as long as exaust is being produced and you have proper cooling systems.
I think twin sequential turbos were a great idea, but it didn't really catch on, sadly...

wow, I feel like I'm reading a foreign forum. I know absolutely nothing about cars other than driving them. I know what I like but speed ain't it. I'm more of a cruiser so I aspire to drive a Merc. Not the 4x4 though, I dig the C32 AMG or even normall C200 Kompressor (the boot pops open at the push of a button, seriously...).
Anyway, I'm punching outta my league here...
