I'm getting married tomorrow! O yeah, i have no girlfriend. HAHA.
18 seems like it should be the minimum age, regardless if parents let you marry or not. It just seems really stupid to marry someone younger than 18 years old! What do kids younger than 18 really know about good relatinoships? I certainly didn't know anything, let alone how to have a good marriage relationship.

I kind of thought this was implied, but I'm glad someone mentioned it because apparently posting "POST YOUR PIPES!" is more on topic than this thread.shaggster wrote:thats why this is the KICKING CIRCLE, does not have anything to do with footbag.

Okay, I have my question if this is for real or not.
If it real. Personally, I think 14 way to young. Your going to grow up so much more. Thibnk back when you were 8. Remeber how "grown up" you felt. Your might feel that same way why your 18. So, I would wait.
Also, that 18 year old sounds like a prev. I am sorry but your only ]14 Thats just creepy. It's like me hitting on a 11 year old. Just plain werid.
If this is fake (which I think it is), this is stupid.

This topic is retarded for anyone over the age of 18. However I forgot that footbag has quite a few young players and I should have kept that in mind before sayng what I did.
Yes your BF is too old. Come on now. You know I remember when I was 14 and I too totaly thought that I was going to marry my gf at the time. Ha! Wow. After that one was over (yes, it WILL be over believe me) there was 20 more just like it to where you think that is the person and youll never find anyone else quite as good as them, and that no love can feel as good as that one. Thats all nonsense and easy come easy go. Remember that. You (and he, hopefully) will both be changing who you are a whole bunch in the next 10 years. Its inevitable. Your young thats what happens, you grow up and change.
Dont get married until you are 25, I dont care if your romeo and juliet.
Sorry for being a dick in my earlier post but you should understand that this is triffles to even worry about. Just live your damn life and enoy every minute of your precious childhood. Cause it goes away fast and it willl be gone forever.
Im 22 by the way. Not an old as man or a little kid. But I know.

Not to condone a marriage at 14, but age is only a number it really means absolutely nothing. Maturity is all that matters. There is 4 years between them, thats nothing there is 22 years between my stepmother and my fathe. At 14 a highly doubt she is reached a high level of maturity, but i have definitely met younger people who are much more mature then some of my older friends. In this case I definitely recommend waiting, it can't hurt to wait you have LOTS of time, make the best of it.
And as a side note in earlier times girls we're married off when they were 15 and 16 years old.

haha i may aswell chime in too!
I think 14 is way too young to be getting married. You may feel that you are mature enough to make this huge commitment, but you do have a lot of growing up to do in the meantime. Perhaps just being in a relationship with him for the next 4-6 years before you want to actually carry out the marriage, will help you understand what its all about and whether you really want to go through with it. This makes the engagement part unnecessary at this point and it may help to keep your mind clear if you werent actually ENGAGED as such.
Its good to hear that you dont intend on actually marrying him until you are over 18, it suggests that you do have some idea of what you are doing. I still believe 18 is too young however but thats just my opinion. You have alot of life to live and things to experience before making this commitment. I guess, just dont take it lightly.
Best of luck to you both!
just wanted to ask also, do you play footbag? if so, coolness!
And Ryan, that was really immature of you to rag on this topic earlier; im glad you apologised. IMO this topic is not 'retarded' and i will be 20 next month; i think its a pretty important social issue. In the Kicking Circle there are very few rules as to relevance of topics, you can post whatever, thats what its for. If someone wants advice on something in their life, and they want it from randoms on the internet, then they are free to ask for it and this is the place to do so.
EDIT: sorry if i just repeated what other people said! hahaha

You will NOT get the wedding of your dreams if you marry him too soon. Firstly, he will not have a decent job, unless his parents are paying for the whole thing that is... :P
People talk, at weddings (and after them), people talk A LOT. 14 year olds and 18 year olds getting married (or even 16 and 20) is not a socially accepted norm. People will talk about this for years to come. If you really don't care about this talk (some of it can be quite vicious), then go ahead. This is certainly not all you should think about though.
I would suggest you take a few steps back, take off your blurry love glasses (the ones you can't see even your own hand through), and really examine this man's emotional state. Men hide things, men lie, some men get emotionally attached very easily and become 'clingy' and unpredictable. I know this because I am a man, and I have done this.
I met my wife online when I was 17. She was 21 at the time. I became extremely emotionally attached, and failed to see many of the problems we were to face later on. Only because our commitment to each other was so strong, and we didn't keep anything from each other did it work out. Many are not so lucky, and if I were to do it again under even slightly different circumstances, i would have waited a few more years before getting married.
The best way to see things clearly is to ask your friends and family for an HONEST opinion of this man. Better yet, ask HIS friends, and his friends girlfriends. Find out what he does behind your back, as it may shock you. Take it from me, men are COMPLETELY different when their significant other is not around. See how he acts with his friends, this may give you a glimpse of who he really is.
Marriage is not to be taken lightly. yes it can be dissolved, but if you think a wedding is expensive, divorce can be just as bad or worse. I don't think you want to be a 17-year-old divorcee.
Your first impulse was the right one, take as much time as you think you need, then wait another year or two. :P If he's still around after 4 or 5 years, and no skeletons have rattled out of his closet by then, maybe he's "Mr. right" Now, don't get too paranoid... Just take a few steps back and take it slow. Enjoy your youth while you have it, because you'll want it back when you're "all grown up"
Also, don't be stupid. If you're going to have sex, make him wear protection, or get on the pill, or both. Do NOT take risks with your life. If you're not financially and emotionally ready for a child, don't put yourself at risk of having one.
I hope you can take some of this to heart.
