Online routine contest

Post by ednie »

i talked to some guy at worlds about this thing
with all the videos and stuff
there should be a monthly competition for best online routine
it would give people a chance to practice routines, put in their best effort instead of dropping all over the place like what sometimes happens in comps
also it would give the community good practice in judgeing
i don;t think there should be a time limit
2 minutes is so restrictive
maybe a footbag company cna sponser a prize of a footbag or video or shirt or whatever for each month

Hahah, I could see myself filming over and over and over and over just to go dropless once.

I think that is a pretty cool idea. I've never practice a routine before, I'm sure that would help my game. Now I need to get a camera.

Amen to that Mosher, my consistancy is horrible, and I'm a perfectionist about things like that when I can have as many tries as I want. The online routine contest could be the death of me.

That would be something! And even if you film yourself over and over and over, it's good practice:)

But 1 a month is pretty harsh, why not one every quarter or something?

If anybody on this forum is really serious about organizing this thing, I'll get planetfootbag over here in Europe to take care of the prizes.

I like this!! I think I may be able to join in.

I think one a month sounds better. After all, everyone doen't have to compete in every contest.

Sounds good to me. I've already started planning some routines and it's a lot of fun. During the summer I would have said once a month no problem, but now that i'm in university once a quarter sounds more realistic. Oh and I was wondering.. would there be intermediate and open categories?

An aside question: who/what determines if someone's intermediate or pro? Skills? The time you've been playing? Also can you categorise yourself or is it imposed by others?

Just curious if I would qualify for 'intermediate' or 'crap category' :)

yeah great idea Dan!

Good point Wim too - I think maybe one division is enough - I don't think "winning" is that important and one division will give you a better idea of what you need to do to get into the finals at a competition or whatever.

How would it be judged? Who would judge it?

I think that the routines should be judged more so on choreography and hard links to help promote the fact that it's a routine and not a shred 2:00.

Great idea :D

why not just start a new thread for every competition and have it be a poll..... then people can vote on the videos in the threaduntill the next posted comp.
Although i agree. once a month would be a bit daunting. for the viewers as well as the people making the videos. and although i doubt many people would post a routine every month it would just seem more competative if people worked on a routine for longer, and there were more people in it.
I need a Camera! i would really like to do this, its a great idea for the footbag community to encourage routine style practice. (me thinks)

If this would be practise for real routines, then they need to be judged they way real routines are. I think they should be 2min long as well. Otherwise, you are practising something else. The idea seems nice - I'm interested in seeing what comes out of it.
