Yay us!!! We make a difference...

Damian wanted to bring in some Laver's as we're gromwing a footbag scene in SA but Adidas said he's going to have to bring in like 1300 pairs to fill a container. While it's growing, it's not growing that fast. That's like R500 000 worth of Lavers ($75000)!

That's just some dude's webpage.
Adidas does not give a shit about footbag.
Lavers were never discontinued and footbag has had
no impact on keeping the shoe around.

heh... it might not be the truth, but at least it shows our sport in a positive light and links to our primary web page. Too bad adidas doesn't care... with the level of play going on right now, they could really make it into something.

When I inquired a lot about this in the past, I was told that Adidas decided to not discontinue the Rod Laver because of their largest demand...high school marching bands. Sorry to rain on your parade, but marching band or not, adidas doesn't give a rip about footbag unless it brings them enough revenue. Also, you can't assume that what Adidas Euro branch is up to has any correlation to what it's North American counterpart is doing...they seem pretty disconnected marketing-wise.

Remember the Adidas 32-panel footbag? Well, they stopped making them because they didn't bring in enough revenue. If they cared so much about footbag to keep the laver around then wouldn't they have continued with the 32-panels? The most insulting part about it is that it had a soccer player on the packaging with a description of how the footbag can be used to improve your soccer skills. however true, the marketing scheme was not to promote footbag, but to sell footbags to soccer players to help improve their soccer skills.

I performed 500-1000 school assemblies promoting footbag, wearing lavers, selling hoards of adidas 32-panels to Physical Education/School programs and didn't get jack from Adidas. like i said, you can't compare Adidas abroad to Adidas local. maybe they're coming around, but i have nothing but angst for them. but...i stil wear my lavers

Adidas was sponsoring parts of the European Footbag Championships 02 in Budapest. The event website was all Adidas designed.

Usually this happens on a national basis without connections to Adidas world wide. Adidas in Denmark really sucks and we have been applying for sponsorships at Adidas Germany instead.

Yves A from Canada gave me an Adidas footbag back in 1999 and it was hard like and same size as a netbag. He warned me that is was made in a really bad quality. It did not just break in after 10 kicks it simply broke.

Adidas is attracted to soccer and tennis not footbag. Who can blame them since there are a least 100.000 times more soccer and tennis players...

Let's hope that the tennis players keep demanding the Laver for many years to come.
