Forum changes

Post by full nelson »

As you can see there have been some forum changes. These changes were made because it's what you said you wanted in the survey. Be patient with us today as we move topics to their new homes :)

cool new sub forums! it's cool to see one of the ideas I put in the survey (trick tips section) happening on the forum. I know I'll be writing up some tutorials.... thanks brad.

Whoever is taking charge of Admin has REALLY got to learn to set *permissions* of the forums, assuming you didn't intend to allow 'Guest' (anonymous users) post in the new forums.

Also, the "VB2" theme is terrible! At least use one that displays quotes properly. Plus the layout on the viewtopic pages is poorly arranged. Just to name one, there's no pagination (go to page x,x,x) at the bottom of the topic pages, where it's most needed. There are a number of other problems with this skin, and there are dozens of alternatives. Please change the default template (theme).

Thanks for reading.

You can set the template/theme you view the forum with in your profile. You might enjoy "subSilver".

Signature doesn't (or didn't about two months ago - Iäm not sure about now) work with subSilver.

oh, good. Then I'll switch mine to it.

Thanks!

EDIT: oh, crap. I was talking about redIce, but I got confused with the names. So the signature works with subSilver, but it doesn't (or didn't) work with redIce...

Sorry...

Yeah it's great to hear some feedback.

We put in a lot of work to make these changes so I'm pretty keen to know what people think of them.

I have always used subsilver :D

thanks a lot for changing the default template!!! As an administrator of a phpBB forum, OF COURSE I know that I can change my settings- in fact my template here has always been subsilver. But most of the time I don't even login to read what's up at modified, so that's why it's a problem.

While I'm at suggestions, I'd love to see someone(s) graphically inclined take initiative to add some "spice" to this forum. It just looks like every other phpBB forum on the internet. Why are there no modified logos or artworks?? After all it is the most popular footbag forum on the whole www.

While I'm mentioning it, someone really ought to do something for footbag.org's forum logo. It too deserves an identity.

I've posted this image before, but if you want to use it in the mean time, you can, as an image instead of the (in my case) phpbb logo.

anyway, here it is.

obviously it will need to be shrunk, which I'll do when I finish posting here. But it's just a suggestion, anyway.
Comment in the BCS blog if you feel the need to.

Yup, we're already on top of that one. That's part of some more changes that will take place. We are considering a few options for choosing the right logo for
the most popular footbag forum on the whole www.
