Xmas Jam 2004 - Midwest

http://www.footbag.org/events/show/1095953949

for those of u that dont want to click on the link! i give u this:

Hi Everyone!

Xmas Jam - Midwest
-December 27-29, 2004
-Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
-Noon to 5, All three days
-Free to All!
-Rooms at the Hyatt, usually $300+, only $75
-See details below.

Come out and shred with us!
-Freestyle
-Four Square

This is a time-structured event with 15-minute footbag demonstrations running on the hour and an
interactive area where kids learn to play footbag.

We are looking for volunteers to help with teaching the interested spectators how to play footbag,
and how to play foot-c net. We would like our expert players to prepare a 15-minute footbag demo
that they will perform on our stage as a part of the event.

This event is free and we are not pursuing sponsors this year, but in order to give out a footbag to
each of the spectators that try the sport we are trying to raise $500 to purchase 2000 footbags to
give away over the weekend. We are asking a voluntary donation of $10 or more from each player,
and if you know anyone who would like to donate over $100 to go directly to providing footbags for
each participant, we can arrange donations to be tax-deductible.

This year's event takes place at McCormick Place in Chicago (as a part of
"Holiday Sports Festival"), Illinois on December 27-29.

We are also running a fun event on Wednesday called "All Shred" that will ensure that all entrants get
to shred
with all of our top professionals, including many BAP members. We will have "organized shred
circles" with 1 pro per circle and a rotation schedule, with loud music and fun for all.

The Holiday Sports Fest is an event designed to introduce all kinds of sports to the general public,
and each sport has an interactive area where kids can try them out. Some sports also have major
tournaments going on, such as Volleyball, Soccer and 3-on-3 Basketball (and now, Footbag). With
Free Parking and Free Admission to the event, this is a great event to bring the family to.

I want to thank the generous sponsors who I anticipate will be on board this year: Freedom Footbags
and Foot-C Net. Regardless of whether they sponsor the event, we are greatful that they have shown
such consistent support of the sport of footbag over the years, and I believe they deserve such
recognition.

It just hit me that I'm going to miss this event for the first time and I'm really depressed about it. To me, this event is like my favorite holiday...

Come on, more than 3 people have to be going!! Seriously, this event/jam is sweet. It goes down in the McCormick place with hundreds of other activitys like skateboarding, BMX and tons of 16 year old volleyball girls if thats your thing. :D The hotel is also dope which is good for late night jams and 4-square as well as some good partying if you arent 21 or dont want to go out clubbin in the city. If you live anywhere close do yourself a favor and come out.

See you there,

You know I'm there for sure. Damn, yeah, if I can come from CA, people at least in the surrounding states should be able to make it.

Why can't people contact anyone in CIC? Just because Scott organized it that doesn't mean he should have to have all of the responsibility of answering everyone's questions.

Sorry Kamil, I didn't mean to sound critical. I thought they were neat.

Dammit, I guess I'll have to wait till next year for our rematch. You'll just have to wait till I kick your ass then!

Edit:
Kamil, I think the flyers are tight, you should definatley print them out and encourage all the kickers at your scool to come out.

nah, we live in Palatine, so it's only about an hour and a half drive. We'll try to make it each day, depending on getting one of our friends to drive. It also depends on how bad I embarrass myself. I don't even have all the two adds down, including a sucky clipper. Krafty is about four hundred times better than me due to the fact that he's been shredding up a storm over the past few months. We went last year and had a blast so hopefully this year is just as good.

You shouldn't think that way. Think of it as a chance to meet and kick with new people and just have a good time. You might even find more kickers around your area. Or think of it as an opportunity to get some help on something you've been working on or just pick up new tricks.

Every year at this event I see groups of friends come out and only kick with the people they show up with. So I try and play with every hack circle and encourage them to play with others. I can understand that it may be a bit intimidating if you think you're not at the same level of play as everyone else. I'd like to think that most freestylers would be more than happy to give you some kind of help on your game if you ask at the right time. You know, don't bug them in the middle of a run. A little patience and courtesy can go a long way

As for the Lane/Gordon thing, there wasn't much animosity amongst the hackers from each school but I did see it amongst the jocks.

Back on topic (sorta)... have I played with you guys before? I know I've run into some kickers from Palatine before, possibly at a festival in downtown? Anyway, one of our members recently moved out to Palatine, I can give you his e-mail if you want it.

One more thing, learn to play4 square! :D :o
