Hey, I think this thread is totally needless.
Americans NEED these high powered assult rifles to protect them from the terrorists.
I think it's about time they lifted that ban. As an eagle loving american citizen I am glad that I can now reeeeeaaalllly kill them terrorists if they show up on my doorstep. And if you FREEDOM HATERS don't like it then why don't you move to I-Rack with the rest of your damn kind.

Americans DONT need theese high powered assault rifles to protect them from the terrorists.
I think it's about time they put more restrictions on guns. As a hockey, maple leaf loving Canadian citizen I am outraged that they can now really kill terrorists if they show up on their doorsteps. And if you REDNECKS like shooting so much, why don't you move to Iraq with the rest of the damn war.
Oh wait, was I the american mosher or was it you, I can't remember
(all of this for a simple retaliatory [word?] canadian joke)

I need to have a gun, IT'S MY CIVIL RIGHT to be able to have firepower that S.W.A.T doesn't have....... Trust me I won't use it for anything illegal. What if I am walking in the wood and a bear attacks me???? I need be safe and safety comes at price peole. I don't care if a machine gun can be bought by anybody at a click of the button. The 19 named assault-style firearms banned under a 1994 law that expired Monday:
AK-47 and all models of the Norinco, Mitchell and Poly Technologies Avtomat Kalashnikovs, designed in the former Soviet Union.
Uzi and Galil, both made by Action Arms Israeli Military Industries.
TEC-9, TEC-22 and TEC-DC9, manufactured by Intratec.
SWD M-10, M-11, M-11-9 and M-12. Based on the design of the MAC-10, their full-automatic cousin, these assault pistols are designed to fire many bullets over a wide area in seconds.
Street Sweeper and Striker 12 and other revolving cylinder semiautomatic shotguns. (wtf!?)
Beretta AR-70 and SC-70, used by armed forces in a number of countries including Italy, Jordan and Malaysia.
Colt AR-15, the civilian version of the M-16 rifle that is the U.S. military's standard-issue rifle.
Several weapons manufactured by Fabrique Nationale, the FN-FAL, FN-LAR and FNC. The guns are used by the armed forces of more than 90 countries.
Steyr AUG, a rifle made in Germany.

Hmm...more powerful weapons in the hands of neo-nazi militant KKK jew, nigger, spic, ay-rab, chink (insert your non-white culture here_________) hating megalomanics.
I don't see a problem here do you?
The only reason why any American needs a bigger and more powerful assault weapon is for the civil war that should take place if Bush or anyone like him should ever get elected again.

I own several of those weapons. There isnt much thats more fun than ripping through a 30 round magazine with my ak-47 clone.
The only difference now and while the ban was going on is I dont have to spend $2000 more dollars to get a pre-ban with a flash suppressor or folding stock or muzzle break.
And btw you are completely wrong about fully automatic machine guns being un banned dude, these are all semi autos. However in most states if you have the money you CAN legally buy a fully auto machine gun, after background checks. I think the cheapest are http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displ ... um=5913512 and the prices only go up from there.
Now what you guys need to keep in mind, is it doesnt matter if you NEED to have something. You dont NEED to play footbag, but you like to and have the right to so you do. Thats the same with these weapons. They are a fucking blast! Criminals are called criminals for a reason, the break the law. So do you think that criminals give a damn if the law says they cant have something? No, they are CRIMINALS. I love my guns!

What you say is true, guns used for the sheer entertainment of shooting a gun when used safely and protected carefully are fine, unfortunately, it seems to me like there are too many people in the states that buy weapons as a means to protect themselves, and with that mindstate in place its not unusual to hear that usa has the most firearm murders per year per capita than any other country.
The ban being lifted basically just makes these heavy assault weapons easier to get, where the US really needs to make these dangerous weapons harder to get, if gun owners like yourself want to buy weapons for entertainment then you should respect the fact that it should take time to get them, to protect the guns from the ones who want to use them for negative reasons.

I have many, I say many, gun toting redneck friends. All of which operate their firearms responsibly and within the laws (with exception to 2 guys that are just plain crazy).
In this day and age it is important to have the right to poses a firearm of these calibers in the event of a homeland attack. Many joke, but it is no joke how suicide bombers and rocket propelled grenades are being unleashed daily in Iraq. It could just as easily happen here.
I for one respect the fact that I may be able to turn to my neighbor for support and protection at home, rather than an underarmed overworked police force with limited training and personel.
These gun toting right wingers take pride in their ability to drop a mark from 300 yards away. They practice often and are quite skilled in their labor of love. It is comforting to know these people not only are willing to help in times of crisis, they thrive on it.
I would rather have someone with a passion for weoponery defend my estate. Like has been said, Criminals are CRIMINALS. They do not care. The police force has to follow the letter of the law. A gun toting redneck only need to take aim. If he is arrested for his actions, then goodie for you, one less redneck. Otherwise, let our people feel FREE to provide protection for themselves, instead of relying on an army of soldiers who may just be out for a paycheck cause the college entrance exam didn't score so high.

i think more americans kill fellow americans than any foreigner has. there are gunshots outside my house every night, and i see flowers on the corner of streets with someone's name on it all the time. now with these automatic weapons, there will be alot more deaths of innocent people caught in the crossfire of gangwars.

these are not automatic weapons, semi auto only. It is illegal to manufacture automatic weapons since the early 1980s except for law enforcement samples.
Truth is that automobile accidents kill 500 times more people than guns do. As do cigarettes. This is nothing compared to the things that should be worried about.

It's so funny the speculation Chris.
The ban only allows certain attachments to be used once again.
No stock weapon was really ever banned. Just modifications that make them harder to detect while firing, or make it easier to conceal.
So I doubt you will see a rise in violence from the ban lift. It is the same guns.
Fact is any semi-auto can be made fully auto by simply removing an important spring mechanism located inside the firearm. I have seen this done to semi-auto 22s all the time. You can also make your only flame supressor and silencer from coiled copper wire. So even if the ban were still in effect, this doesn't prevent anyone from modifing their firearm into some badass weapon. It also doesn't prevent illegal mercury tipped armor peircing bullets from being black marketed either.
So you have never really been safe from criminal activity, even under the ban.

Cops don't even have these weapons due to under funding.
