that was beautiful. I really like climbing on things, but I've never taken it to that level. Thanks for sharing those incredible pics from your adventure. What kind of monetary investment do you need to put in for equipment etc to do that kind of thing?

I should note that canyoneering is not necessarily extreme at all. Setting anchors and ropes and rappeling is almost foolproof. Its really simple, just a few knots to learn and some common sense.
WOW! That was amazing, Ted!! Do you go with a guide, or map so you don't get stuck in a cave or something? I've never seen anything like that before. It kind of reminded me of that movie Vertical Limit, except this was cooler.
The nice thing about canyoneering is the only tough navigation can be finding the upper part of the drainage where you enter, after that, there's only one way to go-downstream.
these pics are beautiful. i want to travle and see the west SOOO BAD i want to see canyons and deserts so bad, never saw any thing like that, looks like a shit load of fun.

those are some awsome pics!! my dad just did some stuff in zion a couple months ago including the subway. he's a crazy hiker and is currently training for the pacific crest trail, which for those of you who don't know is a 2600 mile(no that's not a typo) trail from mexico to canada. i think he actaully has a picture of himself and his friends in front of that exact log =P if you wanna see some pics of his outdoors stuff check out his site pbehmer.com

The PCT runs through the San Gabriel Mtns. right by my house, I hike on it all the time. Thru hikers are nuts, some people do the PCT, Continental Divide trail, and Appalachian trail in 8 months. Thats like 6 or 7 thousand miles.
yea the pct runs fairly close to here as well and i've hiked very very short portions of it =P like probably 5 or 6 miles at a time =P. i'm not firmiliar with the continental divide, and appalachian trail but i'm assuming they're the same thing just in the midwest and east coast? that's fucken crazy to do that in 8 months!!! my dad's taking 5 months to do just the one of them =P
