I hate to do this, because I love to watch Derek vids and he was one of my favorite people to watch at Worlds, but some of the stepping sets on that vid looked slurry.
As for not making it into BAP... I agree that he is the shit and should have made it in. The only thing I could think of is that he might not have hit when certain people were watching or he may not have been in the right circles at the right time. In my opinion he is much better than several current BAP members and will no doubt make it in at the next Worlds.

Regardless of if they are slurry or not - I think he has one of the best looking stepping sets in footbag. Personally I don't think slurry sets are easier than clean sets - infact I think clean sets are much easier - that's why people should learn them. I think I sometimes have a slightly slurry set on one side and it gives me a lot of troubles (not trying to clean it up - but hitting moves and injuries)Splint wrote:I hate to do this, because I love to watch Derek vids and he was one of my favorite people to watch at Worlds, but some of the stepping sets on that vid looked slurry.
The point about cleanliness is that it usually looks bad. Derek's style never looks bad. I guess one of the most important things about footbag is looking cool (it's a performance sport) and I think Derek is one of the coolest looking shredders around.
edit:
"The point about cleanliness is that it usually looks bad." - By this I mean that unclean things usually look bad - clean things usually look good. - Sorry if that was a little confusing.

Dude, you're such a frigging wierdo.
I have watched this movie several dozen times now during my regular rotation of every footbag movie I have on my hard drive. It is absolutely superb. The timing, the musical punctuality and punctuation and of course THE SHRED! It really takes me several times through seeing it all to really have it sink in and be absorbed properly.
Great film!

On a serious note, I think Jeremy raises a very interesting question. I still havent formed my opinion on it, but it`s a refreshing point of view.
I also agree that the black and white looked real good for the video.
