Dear Bloggy Blog,

Im going to go to Wal-Mart in about 15 mins. Once I come home I plan on kicking for about a half hour at least. After that I'm going to tan out by the pool. Im lookin pretty pale to what I usually am.
Hopefully a good session.
I think I'm gonna call the cleaver now.

BBL.

6:51 in the AM.

I don't have to go to school today because I have a history fair project to present at a museum. I did a documentary on Jacqueline Cochran. Hopefully it will make it to states. Wish me luck!~

This morning I went to Bartow Historical Museum to have my documentary on Jacquline Cochran judged. Such an exhausting day.
I made second placein the end, which is good, but I though I had it in the bag. I was competing against like, 10 other kids from other schools. I got a medal and a free trip to Tallahassee for state competition, but I dont think I want to go because if I make second place at county, whats the point to lose up there too? Not worth it, to me at least.

After all that I was really tired. I took a nap from about 430 to 8. Latley Ive been doing this. I dont like being tired. I try to go to bed early but something always prevents me. I go to school, then 4 days a week I go to work right after, and then I try to kick as much as possibe so I get that done, then shower, then eat, then homework. Soemtimes eliminating footbag because of the workload. Eh, I need to come up with a better system of doing things.

Today I definilty wasnt able to kick. Im way too tired and still have to read 6 chapters in a book and write 2 eassays for my english class. :(

Im so over school.

pEaCe.

If you want to get serious about footbag, you have to get serious about dropping out of school.

I have been thinking for a bit about myself, and footbag.
The relation I have is a difficult one to sum up. I don't really know why I play anymore, and this is the core issue.

I don't know what it is but I, lately, feel like I'm playing footbag for everyone else. Is that normal? When I first started kicking I wasn't playing for anyone else. It was soo much fun hacking it up with David at the tennis courts, learning new tricks, making our Crappy WebCam Productions. This was all before I moved to Florida.

Then once I came to Florida last year I felt like I was playing for David a lot more. Also, I was playing for Modified.

When I say playing for, I mean that I didnt really want to kick, but I knew I should. But I definitly didn't do it for myself.

I didn't have the ambition myself to go out there and drill. I made my videos for Modified, and to... impress david/ modified.?.I don't know if I'm wording it right.

It was the biggest contributer to how my game dropped durning that period, and I began to gain some weight. My progress haulted, and made it so frustrating to play. It was a depressing time in my life. Last summer, Sam came here. Well that was a huge burst of the footbag that I used to love. I was playing again because I wanted to. I have random moments like that now. Like going to LA for the Duncan commercial and going to CSS7. Those are the things that makes me LOVE footbag.

I don't want to say I don't like playing, but with everything in my life, sometimes I don't want to kick now. I wish it would be Ok. I kinda feel like I have to keep playing to keep getting better. Cause I dont want to let Sam, or Modified down. I want to set new records and have a lot of 1st's in the womens world, but I dont want to feel like I have to. I dont wanna drill drill drill. I dont wanto to look into Sam's eyes when I say I dont feel like playing agian. I dont want to lose footbag. Its all just in my head :( . Bleh.

No decisions have to be made right now. If you want something to happen, you can make it work - it just takes time and effort in the right ways.

I'm writing you a PM. :-)

props on expressing that. really

I quit playing for a year straight because of pretty much those exact same feelings. I thought I was done for good because it just wasn't healthy the way that I was feeling. Then, one day, I felt like playing. I played. And now, I tend to feel like playing 2-3 times per week. Sometimes for an hour. Sometimes for 15 minutes. Sometimes to drill. Sometimes to show off. Sometimes I just quit for the day and shoot hoops instead. Whatever feels fun.

And that's why I played in the first place. It was a tough road to finally really play for myself, but it's SOOOOOO much better. Since you're having such a good thought process on that topic, you'll get to a place where you're happy too.

I'll chime in here. I have been pretty gung-ho about footbag for a bit more than six years now, playing pretty much 3 or more times per week during my entire undergrad and graduate school experiences, and now during my first year of full-time employment. At times, it was hard to motivate myself because I was so tired, but I always felt the drive to get better and to show myself that I could continue to knock down my self-imposed footbag barriers so I kept playing.

Now, at times, there have been periods where i have not played for approx. 2 weeks at a time (although rare). I think that you shouldn't play when you dont want to play because bad things are bound to happen: either you'll be dissatisfied with the session reults and your effort, or you'll feel like you're playing when you don't want to be, which is a bad feeling (at least for me). I believe that it is better NOT to play footbag for a while until the motivation comes back. And if you're just not sure whether or not to have a kick one day, put on the lavers and see how you feel after a slow 10 minute warmup. If you like the feeling, play longer, but if you've had it, take 'em off.

If you dont want to play, dont only for other people, seriously consider whether its worth it to you to play for the time being. You probably shouldn't play until the interest is regained. On the other hand, I think it is okay if you're just out there to keep your heart rate up. I think you can have other purposes than to continue improving.

Shred when you want to shred. Shred because it feels good to shred. Shred because you love to shred, and because you love the feeling it brings you.

Thanks a lot everyone.
I'm feeling better about it in general. I think Jeremy brung up a really good point of 'keeping the heart rate up'. I would love to play footbag causally, but also when it comes down to going to some event, Id want to play seriously. I'd like to find an inbetween.
For now, I will kick when the bag calls my name. I would like to work on myself more. Put more effort to be a strong women in general, not just in footbag. When I find myself, I can work on my game more seriously and start stringing together the crazy cool stuff.

On another note. 7 months today with Sam  .
Love helps me our tremendoulsy. I would be pretty lost without him.

It's been a bit since I've updated. Sam and I kicked with Jimmy Ball a few days ago. Hes a great musican and cool person all around. We played 3 square and I won. Undefeated. 8) .

My LYMPH NODES hurt like mad. And im dizzy. Today I worked 2-8, and by the end I was wobbling around and my left foot was tingling. I dk what that means. Rest I guess. Im pretty tired.

Even though I wanna rest up, tommarow i work at 8am-3. Then, lol, Im having a party. The party is kinda stressing me out. i hope everyone will have fun. if you have any party suggestions Id be really happy to hear them. On Sunday im working at 9am, so thats going to hurt me.

School starts up agian Monday and I'm not looking forward to it. I cant wait untill summer. Im planning on shredding on my days off of work next week after school. Thats about all thats on my mind, besides my rumbling tummy.

peace~

its really interesting to see the parallels in your blog and Clavens blog, and how you are both rethinking footbag, both around the same time, and the fact that you two started together and all. good stuff. it's healthy to really know why you play this game. everyone should soul search and find that out, whatever the consequences. it's all good.
