Ashley Danowski's Footblog

Post by ashleyd »

Hey everyone.

I was kind of secptical about these footblogs but Ive grown to appreciate them. I figured I can get some good advice out of this and it will be nice to look back at.

alright, lets start with todays session and then just tell you where i am in the rest of my game.

Today I had a lot of good starts of runs and then just ruined them half way in or dropped. That pissed me off. Also today I felt like I couldnt hit any stepping tricks except ripwalks. I couldnt bust blurs or blurrywhirls. I dunno, I might just be having a bad day. Plus no longs lines. as usual. So thats today, I probably go back and drill more later.

Heres some other info about where I am in footbag.

One trick I just cant nail is pdx whirls. I mean, I dunno what it is but I just cant bust any. Like today I was trying and I only got 1 after like 6 trys. I cant do any mid string. Its crazy, I have to master that.

ALSO:
I need longer lines.

I need more variety in my lines.

I want to learn more atomic.

I want to learn barrage and paradon.

So thats all for now. Ill try and update this thing daily. Drills for me that can help would be greatly appreciated.

Ashley

I'm so cool I started this thread . Just kidding.

Hey there Super Ash. I know why you never have long lines. It's because you are trying tricks that are too hard. That doesn't mean that they are too hard for you to do though.

Think of it this way. School hard tricks and phat combos that are 1 - 9 hits. Which I'm guessing you do alot. whirl > ducking butterfly > whirl.. geez

also school 20 contact tiltless runs. TILTLESS. YOU DO KNOW THAT WORD DONT YOU?!

tiltless isnt for losers. tiltless is for people who don't just wanna be 5 contact guiltless

20 contact tiltless AND 5 contact guiltless = 10 contact guiltless + more

yes

someone else back me up i dont wanna type more

-sam

ps nice to see u hear

happy birthday :)

Ashley, you should post a video of some paradox whirl attempts if they're giving you hell. I'm sure you'd get a lot of solid advice pretty quickly.

Also, props on 8 ripwalks! How high is the set on your ripwalk usually?

lol, so true. alright, today im going to work on it. im going to drill the following:

smear> butter> pdx mirage repeat.

dimwalk>pdx mirage rep.

rip>whirl rep.

spinning clip>whirl rep.

as for lines, ill throw in more infinities, pdx mirages, mirages, legovers, pickups....ect.
hopefully getting back to my basics will just strenghthen my foundation.

oh, and my ripwalks usually are a decent height. i dunno, they are fine for now but it wouldnt hurt to get them higher.

thanks for the help so far. ill keep you posted on today's session. i just woke up so i cant really tell if my bodys feeling like a sick session. i need some pop tarts... laters.

pdx whirls: Try skooling alot of toe set whirls. This will get the timing right for downtime whirls which are needed to hit pdx whirls.

It seems weird giving you tips because you are SOO much better than me.

PS glad you started a blog!

ok, just got in from my session.

i followed the instructions of everyone and worked on tiltless strings. i did manage alot of longer lines. averaging about 10 or 9 contacts wich is reasonable. i didnt expect to go out there and imediatly be improved. but i can tell that this will be helping my endurance.

i did have 1 highlight thats worth talking about. it was like a 15ish contact tiltless line and in the middle i busted the best zooming ive ever done. osis> spinning osis midstring. i thought it was good.

other than that i felt like my whirls were really good. like i was drilling whirl> ripwalk repeat alot and they were really smooth so im stoked on that. my stepping was high and my ducks were good.

all in all a good session. its still early in the day so i could go back and keep drilling. i didnt really do any pdx whirls and i should have. but, i dont want to overwork myself. well see how i feel later....

Ya, I had the same problem awhile back with my string length so for a whole week I drilled the heck out of my 2 add moves and easy 3 add moves. It helped so much. My string length grew a lot.

Now every session I have, I warm up by doing probably 4 different tiltless drills and every time I do them I try and beat the record I have for them.

Garfields the shit.

Alright, I just came in from my morning session. Im sweating like a beast its so frikin hot outside. I needed a break or else i would have collapsed.

oh im having the sickest session. 3 pdx whirls both sides!!!!!!! im finaly learning to do them. although, those 6 took me like half hour to hit. its all about the timing of when you bring your leg around. im super stoked on this.

im drilling dimwalk> pdx mirage. its just hard getting that flip dimwalk... ill drill more of that.

i need to go out there and hit 5 blurry whirls bs. i know thatll be a bitch... i also need to hit 5 smears bs, 5 blurs bs....

alright, so far a sick session, my lines are of decent length...i dont want to cool down too much so im going to go...

adios.

my sesh ended ok. surprisingly the blurs were the hardest. i managed to hit the 5 on my strong but only 2 on my weak. took me a while. i only hit 3 blurry whirls on bs too. basically i felt like my life was more inportant than hitting those, because it was just too hot outside to finish. tommarow morning ill do more of the same.

other than that my brother and i traded our x-box for a ps2. i also got an itrip today wich is super great for shred. so excited for using that tommarow. and also some Hollister clothes i ordered came in. AND david got his early brithday present from me, a web cam like mine. so now that boy better be posting vids alot more.

ok, im out. later fellas.

I was a little confused after reading "5 blurs bs", at first I thought you meant the pdx whirls were back-to-back, but now I'm confused. Either way good work. It took me MONTHS of schooling nothing but whirls to be able to do whirl moves! Good work on being so bothsided!!!

I've always wanted a PS2, also. My cousin brought his over when he visited from Michigan (JUST AFTER MGS3 WAS RELEASED!!!!!) and he was telling us how they are lame because they tend to break REALLY REALLY easily. So be careful!! I love my Xbox, but PS2 TOTALLY has a WICKED exclusive game selection (MGS3, Zone of the Enders, post-9 Final Fantasy series...all of my favourite series!!)...I hope sooo much that at least MGS3 is eventually released for Xbox :( Otherwise I may need a PS2 too! Although Xbox2 will probably be PS2-emulator-compatible...

PS: Have you hit flip food processor? What about pdx blenders? (Soooo much cooler than food processor...) I can't wait to see more videos -- what was the name of the song in your last video, Ashley -- I kept it playing on my desktop for days straight 'cause it was so sweet!

by bs i mean both sides. i didnt hit them back to back.
and the blurs, i mean 5 on strong side and 5 on weak.

also, i have hit a flip processor. just once. and i few pdx blenders but id be wrong of me to say i could hit it on call.

and my brother broke our last PS2 so i know how fragile they are. he got pissed because grand theft auto wouldnt save.

oh and the song is: Hate It Or Love It by: The Game featuring 50 Cent.
