Thanks guys!
Oh, weird, it's been so long since I've played that I didn't even think to update the blog. I think it's been 2 weeks? It was a really fun session. Ankle still feels really weak, but I managed, and played harder than last time, though toned it down about halfway through because I tweaked it a bit. I guess I'll see in the morning how I truly held up. Didn't actually play too well, but I was too happy to just be playing at all. I was looking forward to this like every single day.
MACIEJ
Before I forget, some of Maciej's (his name is pronounced "MAH-chyehk") combos:
-
flurry > pigbeater > dod swirl [repeat]
-
flurry > pixie blender [repeat]
-a run with jani, sunil, and fury all BSOS?
-a run with almost both nemesii and arch nemesii (dropped on the last arch I think)
-9 fearless, his record (bed > phoenix REP > blurry whirl x2 > blurriest x2 > PS whirl > almost spinning whirl, which he totally could've hit, but kind of just stopped for some reason?)
-
clownface BSOS (I don't think I've ever seen that before...)
ME
Aw, now anything I say about myself is going to sound dumb. Lol.
Oh, a kind of neat highlight was that Alex has been trying to hit matador BSOS for every session that I've missed apparently. I thought I would try to give some feedback, and hit it every single time I tried, both sides, lol. Felt cool. And then Alex was, like, "yeah, that's what I want do!" Haha. I can't do nuclear because of my bad hip, so I just don't do it, but it felt cool to be able to pull that off. I hit it quite a few times too. Like maybe 10? Mostly on the "bad side", which is the hip that doesn't hurt. Also felt cool because it was something that Maciej couldn't do

(though I'm sure he'd be way better than me at it if he tried for 2 minutes. He gave it a few attempts and just got one side.)
I had a 50-some freestyle run, which felt good.
I hit
62 gyro clippers > hand catch (because I started to feel nauseous lol) Probably my record by at least 10... I may have done 50-some before? I don't remember.
20 spinning clippers BS
a sandwhich run where I BSOSed mobius, then BSOSed gyro DLO, then dropped BSOSing the mobiuses again
Hmmm... not too much else. Was struggling with run length and also trying to feel out what I could do without hurting myself
maybe that's it for me?
Oh, dammit, I forgot to do a new trick! I'll have to make up next session.
And actually, the new tricks from last session I'd already hit before. I read my list wrong. They should have been SET from knee and calf as well as kicked with knee and calf... Oh, actually, I did hit a new record, so I'm gonna count that.
ALEX
Alex seemed to be taking my advice to heart and actually focused more on some basics. His style is a bit wild and I tried to give him feedback about working on that without coming off as a dick. I think he was more receptive to that than I expected. I think it was even a Maciej video where someone commented saying something along the lines of how his torso stays stationary while his legs dex and that was what I was trying to explain to Alex that he should work on as a foundation. I hope he understands what I tried to teach. I don't feel comfortable harping on it a ton because I don't want him to think that I think he's bad or anything. It's hard giving constructive criticism sometimes...
Oh yeah, then while I was sitting out for a while, Maciej asked me for challenges. I gave him Xanabox(?) -- reaper > double switch > paradon [repeat]. He hit it after a few times around the "circle" -- he seemed excited, so I assume he hadn't hit it before? I gave Alex reaper BSOS, but he upped it himself to reaper > double switch BSOS. I don't think he hit it. He did say that he hit his record for number of contacts of DLO > drifter repeat. He did like... 16-ish contacts?
Oh yeah! And we ended the session on a cooperative game of... what do you even call it. He hits a 3-add, then I hit the same one and add one, and back and forth, but we're not trying to get the other person out, we're trying to see how far we can go. I think we got to about 6, since there isn't much overlap in our games and we ended up doing dense toe tricks... we had a few different runs, but 6 was our best.
BEST OF ERIK CHAN VIDEO
This is a really long post, but I've also been working on putting together a best of Erik Chan video. I've been going through all of my YouTube videos and highlighting the best stuff, and then going through and highlighting the best of all of that... I think I'm just gonna use OBS (a screen capture program) straight from the fullscreen YouTube clips... so not best quality, but I don't want to have to go hunt down all of those raw files (which I do have on various drives somewhere...) Might actually start putting it together tonight if I'm close enough to going through the final videos. I have a track I'm pretty excited to use, but will have to kind of play around with it and cut and paste to make it longer. I hope it's not too noticeable since I'm not a particularly musical person.
STAR WARS REBELS
Finally seeing Black Panther tomorrow. Can't wait!
Oh! And I just caught-up on Star Wars Rebels. Spoilers if you ever plan on watching the series and haven't, but one of the main character Jedi finds a Jedi temple where he has the power to alter space and time. He happens to find Ahsoka (Vader's Jedi apprentice) fighting Vader at the time of her death, and just pulls her out through a portal into her future... Super crazy. Then Palpatine tries to capture him to get the power of the temple... Craazy episode. Almost worth watching the entire series itself (which is a bit of hit or miss, since it's mostly geared toward kids...) This show is canon, though, so that's pretty bonkers that Palpatine almost got hold of this which would have basically given him control over all existence...
