Thai food. The first time I ever ate it I got food poisoning, now I can't stand the smell.

You sound like some kind of sexual predator/paedophile. We don't want to know about your filth.LEGOMAN wrote:slapdash21 wrote:has anyone seen "two girls, one cup?"
yeah lol that cracked me up. you should look for "2 girls 1 finger"
I can't really think of a type of food I don't like these days. I guess a steak that's medium or well done is pretty gross. If you won't eat it rare you might as well not bother.

I thought of that so Ill just say its all good as long as I cant smell my neighbors cooking it inside of my own apartment.

Over processed meats like bologna, hot dogs and head cheese are not fit for human consumption.
Fast food makes me want to wretch.
I hear that sea urchin is by far the ultimate in 'acquired' taste.
These are only preferences though. I'm sure many folk would disagree. I love tomatoes and onions. I could eat them raw all day long, but others would shudder at the thought.

There are so many traditional Inuit foods that are disgusting and require plenty of time to become acquired tastes.
-Fermented walrus meat
-fermented seal fat as a dip
-bloody, raw seal meat and organs
-whale skin and blubber raw, the texture......
Plus many more.
But frozen, raw caribou and arctic char are great and tasty!

I was about to say something in the context of whale blubber eaten raw, but you beat me to it Andrew.
I think to a lot of people, tripe and stomach are disgusting to a lot of people. I like to eat these things in rice pooridge (sp?). But, I think it's really disgusting how people tend to overdose this ingredient with a ton of hot sauce. That's just not right imo.
Goat's brain is something acquired. I had to take some years to understand that the soup my grandmother made on occasion had goat's brain in it. Kind of makes you feel alright with it.
I'm not a fan of chicken's feet. Also, who the hell eats sea cucumber?

Last time I was in Oz, I noticed that steaks cooked "rare" were always overcooked and very very far from the bloody pieces of meat I've come to love. In the US it is impossible to get any steak that still has some blood in it and I've heard that in some states (Utah?) it's even illegal to serve "rare" meat.Jeremy wrote:I agree with Texta that badly cooked food is disgusting though.
Anyway back on topic: I have a hard time with tripe.
I'm up for mostly anything else though, brains, bone marrow, chicken feet, congealed blood (not sure that's the right term), pickled liver, beef tongue etc. etc.
now there are some exotic food that I've heard about that I think I would think twice about eating. Cat and dog meat comes to mind but I must admit I am quite curious about that.
Dog's penises doesn't exactly entice me and I'd probably pass. I've also heard of jellied bird fetuses being a delicacy in some parts of the world. That doesn't sound all too appealing either.

yeah, its true (in MA). i've asked for rare, they said they couldnt do it, i said medium, they said they could only do it medium well to well done. but if you go to a decent place they'll still do it for you.max wrote:Last time I was in Oz, I noticed that steaks cooked "rare" were always overcooked and very very far from the bloody pieces of meat I've come to love.
