.......

Err..........

I Hit PS WHIRL!!!!!!!!!

Woohoo! Finally. I footed that trick back in July or something, went into a slump, footed it a few more times on 2 or 3 separate occasions, fell off my bike and banged up my body, and now I've finally healed and sealed it! Huzzah! So satisfying. I'm just thinking of all the differnt tricks I want to hit it out of now....

The rest of the session was okay. I had a really long tiltless run to warm up, maybe over 50 contacts? Idk. Zulu clipper x4, meh. My shuffle wasn't too bad. All in all a good session. Pete played really well. Hopefully he can remember most of his highlights, he had some really intense links.... Hmm, one that really stuck out to me was blurry osis>gyro legover>muted magellan>bs smear>atomic osis>string. That was bombtastic.

Peace

Thanx a lot Matt! I hope I can get it on video soon so you can critique it, afterall, you are Mr. PS Whirl.

Man, my hips, and shins are killing me! I just drilled gyro for a little while taking a break from hw. That stuff destroys my shins. I am going to be feeling this tommorow. Aw well, worth it. :D I managed gyro clip x10, gyro clip>gyro clip>gyro mirage bsos, gyro clip>gyro clip>drifter>rpt 8 or 9 contacts. Also vortex bs to end the session. Im going to hit that trick bsos and in a drill very soon.... given I keep drilling gyro each session and dont slack like last time I worked gyro.

Oh, and during my breaks from drilling gyro stuff I managed toe motion bs. I can see myself getting consistent with this trick as long as I remember to practice it, otherwise it'll just be another one hit wonder 5 add like pdx blender, mobius, swivel... hope I dont end up adding ps whirl to that list. I would really love to be able to have that trick down consistent like phoenix. Oh what the future holds...

:D

First 5>5: Darkwalk>mobius

I wanna hit PS whirl out of that for my first 5>5>5. Oh yeah, that reminds me, I hit flip PS whirl today too. And vortex bsos. Yeah, twas a good session. I twinged my knee after a flip PS whirl attempt and got really scared as it hurt it in the same way the last time I twinged my knee like that which put me out for about 3 weeks. I just took it easy after that, and luckily the pain went away. Guess I should stretch more or something. I'm so excited for the Boston Jam, even though its still really far off and there isnt even an exact date yet, but either way, its gonna be SWEET! Everyone come!

I must say, these solo sessions are quite satisfying.

-vortex>drifter bs (I want that rpt soooo bad)
-torque>drifter>rpt (finally!)
-symple rev swirl>duck clip>rpt (inspired by Wiktors new vid, though not quite as impressive)
-spin clip>duck clip>rpt 20 contacts

I can't wait until I'm good at footbag. I've been watching so many videos lately. I think my favorite is still The Compromise by Rozo featuring Ners and Olaf. They're both just soooooooo good. Ners has perhaps the best downtime game out there. Drifter, dlo, egg, barrage, whirl, swirl, torque, barfly, even bent. Symp whirling ripstein anybody?! So good. I want my donwntime game to be just as solid as his, even though Im going in a much different direction than he did and my style is much more wild. But still, soooo solid. And Olaf. Pfft, I dont even have to say anything, everyone already knows how insane that guy is. Mobius>marius>rpt WHAT! Too good. Well that was a pretty rando gratuitous post. Aw well.

Dammit! I wish I had checked this before my session, I woulda tried that drill. However, I'll probably start with phoenix>pixie shuffle>end with other phoenix. Just cuz my flip phoenix isnt reliable enuff midstring.

So yeah, first session since.... last Thursday? Idk, whenever we filmed. I'm looking forward to that video. Since Fran's majoring in being artsy he was using some really cool filming techniques, so hopefully he can make me look as though I'm actually good at footbag.

Anywho, session today was not nearly as good as I'd anticipated. I ended up playing for over 3 hours just cuz I was so unsatisfied. I had told myself on Saturday that if I felt like shredding then I would just study something else, as I had 3 midterms this past week. Bleh. So while going through footbag withdrawal the past few days, I've been thinking of all these awesome links that seemed feasible for me. During calc, my last class today, I was basically pissing my pants with excitement to play. My legs were fresh, I"d eaten an adequate amount of food, my weekend was starting as soon as calc ended, I was ready to shred.

I get back to my dorm room, drop my backpack on the floor, change into shred shorts, move my laptop into the living room area, and rearrange the furniture for optimal shred. I warm up with kicks and stretch, but something seems.... off. I told myself I wanted to hit 100 tiltless before attempting any of the sweet combos I'd been dwelling over for the past several days, just to get my legs back into shape before doing anything huge. I drop the bag on my foot and mirage>clipper>osis>far leg>clipper>osis>far leg>>leg>drop.... Now usually I've come to find that my first string is always a good indication of how "on" I am, so I can usually nail about 20 tiltless off the bat. Yeah. Everything felt incredibly off. It was horrible. I kept messing up around 15-20 tiltless. I broke 50 once.

After an hour or so I decided I wasn't going to hit 100 and was too pumped to still try and land some sweet links. However I decided to work bops a little before trying any sweet links. I worked on infinities first and couldnt get past 11. :x This pissed me off so to prove that I wasnt that off I said "Well, drifters are supposedly harder than butterfly so..." and I proceeded to land 11 drifters 2nd try. This was when the session finally started turning around and I figured out what I was doing wrong with infinities and whatnot. All in all, a pretty junky session, but good for working on form and such. I had one highlight, it was:

-torque>osis>rpt>string>seal with spinning osis bsos.

I'm just looking forward to tomorrow now and am hoping that I can play better. I have sooooo much to work on. Form, tiltless, bops, downtime stuff, i.e. whirl, dlo, drifter, torque, etc. I really wanna work ripwalks and stepping but I wanna solidify all that other stuff first. Ugh, I wish I knew how to train at footbag. Maybe I should read up on that training program Anz created, that dude has some pretty intense form and endurance.

doug that highlight, to me, would effing make any three hour session worth it. I know you came close to torque>osis>rpt before, but that's so sick to seal with sp osis bsos. Anywhays, you're on for coming to UVM halloween, I think. I just gotta run it by my suitemates and, i guess more importantly, roommate but I'm almost positive it's chill. You best be pumped

Sick dude. It's gonna be bagtastic. Just hope I'll be able to play!

Had another 2.5+ hr session today. 3rd day in a row. Whoo, my legs are buggin. And I plan to play again tomorrow.

Highlights:
-smear>dimwalk>blur>rpt (In your face face, Sam!)
-sidewalk>ripwalk>rpt (lots of times)
-step ss clip>step far clip>rpt
-step ss clip>rip>rpt
-sidewalk>step far clip>rpt
 parkwalk>ripwalk>blur>rpt (Oh so good, Ive been dreamin of this combo forever)
-rip>side>blur bs
-flip mobius

Yeah, it's about time I started drilling stepping set. After watching some Allan H footage, I decided shuffle is too cool not to have. I dread the day I decide to try and drill atomic. Bleh.

sick session, doug! mobius rules. skool spinning osis back to back a bunch of times, then mobius > spinning osis, and spinning osis > mobius both sides, then join the mobius to mobius club!

Curse you, Doug Tank! I knew you had me on that one. The skooling of the stepping is so neccessary. I am jealous of that session overall. Good-ass highlights.

Dude Doug, why come you gotta tease me with epic highlights like that and then just shut me down on coming up to the VT? haha Just kidding I understand money troubles and how hard it is to get OUT of Boston when everyone's going into it on the weekends. Sick highlights, and here I was thinking I might beat you to a more consistent stepping set. I knew it was gonna be a while, but now I just don't think it's gonna happen

That's the plan, Matt.

Haha, thanx Sam. I saw that video of you recently though and I can already tell I've still got some work to do. :P

Ian, you're the man. Thanx for last weekend. 8)

So yeah, solo session. Twas awesome. Ha.

-67 tiltless to warm up
-step ss clip>blurry clip>rpt starting bs
-sidewalk>ripwalk>rpt x 5 contacts starting bs
 ripwalk>sidewalk>blur bsos>string with spinning osis bsos>seal with mobius (This was definitly my best string of the night, and coincednetaly my last. This was also my first attempt at mobius all night :D )
-ripwalk>whirl>rpt x11 contacts
-rip>side>rpt>rip>diving clip>rpt>string>spinning clipper>rip>drop
-blurry rake bsos (first try and also first time hitting the trick on either side)

Overall, freakin amazing session. I only played for about an hour so that my legs wont be too dead tomorrow. I really gotta figure out some type of training regimen so my legs are in optimal condition most days. Anyone got any tips? It's so rare that I can play like this. Felt so good though, maybe it's cuz I came out of my calc test smiling? Who knows.

Ugh.

Idk what it is but when I play on Ustream I just cant seem to concentrate. Aw well. I did get some good advice from Ben Skaggs. Thanx to him I hit flip eggbeater>smear for the first time. Too bad I'll probably forget how to do it next time I try, haha. I wanna work on gyro butter>whirl too. I hit it, but it was just way too damn sloppy.

Man, it seems like none of my drilling is paying off. After looking at my highlights from about a month ago I realize I couldnt hit any of that today. My stepping has just regressed like no other. Bleh.

I guess on the plus side I am hitting pdx drifter and pdx whirl with more ease lately. Totally out of the blue since both those tricks seemed to elude me for the longest time. Haha, I just know that once I get back to drilling stepping I wont be able to hit pdx whirl or pdx drifter anymore.  Whatev. Tis the game that is footbag.

....Man, I really hope I don't suck at NYJ.....

I get the impression that NYJ is the kinda tourney where even if you suck, you have fun. I'm going to be pretty rusty going in there, but I'm still stoked just to see everybody, eat Chicago food, and see all the craziness that goes down.

Looking forward to playing with you (and having fun!) in 2 weeks!
