Although this has little bearing on why I made my suggestion, it would greatly depend on the circle, and my own physical state. At the current level of my game, there wouldn't be many circle comps out there I would have a legitimate chance of winning outright, sledging or no. But again depending on the level of other competitors, there are plenty of circles out of which I'd have a chance of progressing on a good day. As I said, this has little bearing on my opinion on the subject of this thread, though. That said I can shred in all conditions, sledging or no better than other players I've played with so that could be a factor, thoughnot a major one. If you're interested in my level of shred come to Sydney some time and we can shred, otherwise I'll see you in Tassie for nationals. Perhaps some increased exposure to the whole scene might change your mind about the level of competitiveness in Australia, which in my opinion is nowhere near being unhealthy, had you been at the Sydney Jam your mind might already have been changed, it was a shame you couldn't make it.

I'm still unconviced sledging is necessarily a mark of disrespect, I think there is a limit before which it is distracting but not disrespectful. For those who disagree, that's fine, you won't be able to convince me otherwise, nor I you. Next circle comp I enter though I'll make sure I know what he tournament director think's and will expect to be treated accordingly.

Perhaps that came off a bit personal, I really don't know you or anyone in the Sydney scene. Still the only reason I see for people engaging in sledging is when the desperately want to win (see over-competitive point) but don't have the footbag skills to do so. Personally I think that footbag circle competition should be about who can shred the best, not who can sledge the best.

When I was talking about over-competitiveness I was mainly referring to the Melbourne scene, where I've already seen a few people quit solely because of the attitudes of some people. Hopefully Sydney is better in that regard.

How bout everyone that wants to talk smack can break off and form their own freestyle competitions. Instead of being "shredders", they can be known as "sledgers".They can have all the same comps except instead of just standing and watching the competitors, they can pop balloons and shoot them with water guns while making deragatory comments about their moms. If that's not enough... they can dump a bucket of pigs blood on poor barney right before his sledge30. I'm pretty sure that when they goto worlds they will all wear t-shirts that say "stand clear of my mouth".
