GFO 06 >>>> WORLDS 06

Post by Paulsator »

Hey people!

BIG things are comming up next year...

As you probably all know, next years euros in lausanne will be taking place already in early june.

that will be before the soccer world champs in germany.

one week after the soccer champs (the final is july 9th in berlin) the German Footbag Open 2006 will be taking place again in Berlin as well....one week before FOOTBAG WORLDS 2006 in Frankfurt start!!!

We're planning this together with frankfurtfootbag.

This years GFO were probably the tournament with the most spectators ever in footbag history; we had around 2500 spectators for the finals show and around 3500 throughout the weekend.

We will be trying to offer cheap accomodation for your stay in berlin and very cheap transportation to frankfurt in the week between gfo and worlds.
now I'm asking you guys, especially from overseas what you think about our plans... would you like to come to berlin for a big footjam-like open tourny to kinda warm up before the serious worlds?
any input is greatly appreciated...

on behalf of the GFO organisational team and the FC Footstar Berlin,
yours, Paul

paul, this is confusing me, I thought soccer world champs were the same week as worlds. Could you post a timeline for these events you've mentioned? It would be cool to come for GFO, Euros, AND worlds!

this was our plan:

timeline

euros in lausanne, switzerland (early june)
soccer world cup (june 9th - july 9th)

gfo06 in berlin (july 14th -16th)
- time for chillout in berlin and transfer to frankfurt -
worlds in ff (23rd or something like that - 30th july)

to say it in one sentence:
you can have frankfurt & berlin = biggest spectator footbag tournament & worlds in 2 and a half weeks.

YAY!

Why not have Worlds at the same time as the World Cup?

if i can swing it i'll try to hit all of it. most likely i'll be hitting GFO and Worlds only, because i don't know if i will be able to spend an entire month in europe for all 3. Have you spoken with ole and jan z? will there be a footjam next year, because i really wanna hit that up!

Sounds awesome. I may be able to make it - we'll see.

I think it should be pointed out to those people who aren't part of the rest of the world that the soccer world cup finals has 32 teams in it who play a series of games in pools before a 16 team knock out round - thus it goes for a lot longer than 1 week - more like a month I think.

Infact Max said "June 9 to July 9" - historically worlds is always the last week in July I think.

I think it would be really really good (although not effect me) if this year worlds organisers could take into account and plan for the fact that there will be underage people at worlds - in fact all tournament organisers should take that into account.

yeah obviously the soccer worlds cup is one month long, and tickets are either sold out or unaffordable... also air fares i am pretty sure will be the best directly AFTER the world cup.

there will be no fotjam, but euros in lausanne instead. that's why we are doing the "fun tournament" instead .

no worries about underage shit for worlds or anything - if we do the parties we decide who gets in and who doesn't. in any club or bar we do the parties at. germany isn't that strict about stuff like that...

worlds is definetely not at the same time as the world cup because obviously all the media attention and sponsorship money is blocked during that time...

hope to see you all here next july

to repeat the most important thing about paul's post:

who is generally interested in a BIG tournament in berlin the weekend just before wolrds including a cheap transfer to frankfurt? just as a general opinion...

i was just gonna write everything max just wrote :D
so i'll cut that.
we really just wanna have a general idea of how many people would be interested in this "2-week-footbag-summer-package" we're wanting to offer you next year... :P
