Is this frowned apon?

Post by WiGeek »

I notice it's all about dex, dex, xbd, etc... you know what i'm saying...

well what about simple tricks like outside > toe > inside > stepover > inside > atw > catch?

i mean, are those TOTALLY frowned apon and considered only a circle kickers dream, or could these just be "underground"?

could be a stupid question, but i don't know...

No. Footbag is about a person's personal preferences for moves and ability to do them. Of course you can't smear or atomsmasher when you first start and you do a lot of "low caliber," as someone I know once put it, moves, but hey, you can do them. All of the "simple" tricks are just steps to other moves like legover, mirage, clipper, butterfly, etc. If you don't master these, you can't hit bigger moves. This one kid that we kick with couldn't stall at the beginning of summer and now he can stall well and almost incorporate pixies, clippers, and butters into his repitoire. Just be sure to drill your basics on both sides. ;)

I wouldn't say those kind of moves are frowned upon at all. It's freestyle, if you want to do combos like that, you should. I do combos like that. Of course, it's fun to advance, but that comes in it's own time, and if you don't want to, you don't have to.

Awesome, because I have so much fun doing wrap arounds on my leg (is that what it's called, when you bring your inside behind your other leg and throw it over, so kind of like inside delay swinging it to xbd delay?) and i can do like 3 in a row to a dex after... FUN,FUN,FUN!

Yeah, if this (Inside delay the footbag and pull the footbag around your support leg into a cross body position) is what you're doing, then it's a wrap. It's a neat 2-add. It helps a lot with developing the clipper. Just be sure to wrap on the flipside. Another couple of cool moves like that are walk over, which is like wrap, but you walk over the bag, and hop over, which is basically the same except you hop over it (duh).

man, i always liked doing wrap>refraction or wrap>osis.... they look so cool! or refraction>osis... i do those around circle kickers who dont know about footbag and they always say its so stylish.

you should try eclipse too. basically the same thing cept you do an inside stall and then jump over with your support leg rather than just bringing it behind your support leg.

That`s all that matters. Do what`s fun for you. Keep in mind that lots of people do the advanced stuff because that`s also a lot of fun, but don`t feel pressure to do any tricks or anything, as long as you are enjoying yourself.
