Well, today is the 16th anniversary since the Berlin Wall fell.
I remember I'd just got home from kidnergarten (I also got my dog that same day, which is mainly why I remember it) and my mom and pop were watching it and made me and my brother sit an watch it.
A landmark in the strive for peace. Divided nations suck.
Fall of the Berlin Wall...

I was 9 back then. If I remember correctly, that was the first time I ever realized what the Wall really was. I used to think it as an "ordinary wall", not a dividing wall. Well now that I think of it, I guess the purpose of all the walls is to divide.
It's hard to realize it was only 16 years ago there were 2 Germanies. Two years ago a friend of mine from the former East Germany told me that though the Wall is gone, the impact of it is still there. I'm not really all that familiar with the situation now, so I'd really appreciate an opinion of a German member of the community.
